How can a lie work and make sense and be supported by all the evidence? You are in the waters of logical contradictions, again. Why would I want to even try to understand an orbiting earth which is a lie ?
Does it only mean this? Where is your citation? But the "expanse" in the Hebrew means being beaten out of a metal. A metal that is spread out by beating.
Post #423I'm not, which picture was this ?
These words all translate the Biblical Hebrew word rāqīaʿ (רָקִ֫יעַ), used for example in Genesis 1.6, where it is contrasted with shamayim (שָׁמַיִם), translated as "heaven(s)" in Genesis 1.1. Rāqīaʿ derives from the root rqʿ (רָקַע), meaning "to beat or spread out thinly".[5][6] The Hebrew lexicographers Brown, Driver and Briggs gloss the noun with "extended surface, (solid) expanse (as if beaten out)" and distinguish two main uses: 1. "(flat) expanse (as if of ice), as base, support", and 2. "the vault of heaven, or 'firmament,' regarded by Hebrews as solid and supporting 'waters' above it."[7] A related noun, riqquaʿ (רִקּוּעַ), found in Numbers 16.38 (Hebrew numbering 17.3), refers to the process of hammering metal into sheets.[7] Gerhard von Rad explains:Does it only mean this? It is exactly the same argument used by Dubay with regards to the Suez Canal.
Suez Canal
The Suez Canal is a waterway connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. The level of water on both seas is practically the same, and the Suez Canal contains no locks system. Flat-Earthers are…flatearth.ws
The Jewish scribes who translated the Old Testament into Greek, used the word "στερέωμα", which has a similar sense, even though it was already known by the Greeks that the stars and planets were much further than any supposed dome. I believe it already had become associated with "the heavens"These words all translate the Biblical Hebrew word rāqīaʿ (רָקִ֫יעַ), used for example in Genesis 1.6, where it is contrasted with shamayim (שָׁמַיִם), translated as "heaven(s)" in Genesis 1.1. Rāqīaʿ means that which is firmly hammered, stamped (a word of the same root in Phoenecian means "tin dish"!). The meaning of the verb rqʿ concerns the hammering of the vault of heaven into firmness (Isa. 42.5; Ps.136.6). The Vulgate translates rāqīaʿ with firmamentum, and that remains the best rendering.

Keep in mind that it was supposed to hold the waters above and the ancient Jews did not understand the atmospheric pressure. Thats why they imagined it as something like metal with windows in it for raining.

The one in post #423?I never posted that picture.
The LXX was not translated by Greeks or in Greece. The LXX was translated by Jewish scholars who spoke Greek. In Egypt or in Palestine. The Jewish scribes who translated the Old Testament into Greek, used the word "στερέωμα", which has a similar sense, even though it was already known by the Greeks that the stars and planets were much further than any supposed dome. Funny how I keep posting the same thing and not one person can reply. Psalms 93:1. The world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Psalms 96:10. The world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Psalms 104:5. The world is firmly established, it will not be moved. 1 Chron. 16:30. The world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Job 9:6. Who shaketh the earth out of its place, and it’s pillars tremble. Psalms 75:3. The earth and all who dwell in its melt; it is I who firmly set its pillars. Then there is this. Psalms 104:5. …….for the pillars of the earth are the lords, and he set the world on them. So here are 8 verses telling us that the earth is set on pillars and cannot be moved. Is just that only 9 would be the magic number? It hasn't left that orbit in thousands of years. That is what "fixed in orbit" means.
Well then ur self described view of the Bible fits you. Don’t think u was questioning that.I seek a view that is internally consistent and not being debunked by just learning more (either about the world or about the Bible itself).
This endeavor placed me into the position I mentioned. All other views I see being mentioned and believed in are significantly problematic.
The earth cannot be moved. Psalms 93:1. Psalms 96:10. Psalms 104:5. 2. 1 Chron 16:30. The earth is mounted on pillars. Job 9:6. Psalms 75:3. Psalms 104:5. So here are 7 verses saying the earth is mounted on pillars and cannot be moved. See anything about orbiting here? Is it just that only 8 verses would convince you and not 7?Neither is "flat earth" in any of the verses usually quoted by you and your brethren. You wish to live in a delusion. I do not.
It isn't a picture from Eric,
Funny how you can't respond to all the physical evidence of the globe Earth.Funny how I keep posting the same thing and not one person can reply. Psalms 93:1. How about you get on topic and deal with the impossibility of a 24 hour Sun beyond 70° South of the equator on a flat Earth during Summer. The earth cannot be moved. Psalms 93:1. Psalms 96:10. See that the 7 posted verses telling you that the earth is mounted on pillars and cannot be moved conveniently skipped ur thots. So It is the sun and the moon that are in orbit. Is that on topic enough for you?How about you get on topic and deal with the impossibility of a 24 hour Sun beyond 70° South of the equator on a flat Earth during Summer.

I have already given my "thoughts" on those verses back in the thread. You are welcome to go look for them.See that the 7 posted verses telling you that the earth is mounted on pillars and cannot be moved conveniently skipped ur thots.
So you agree that on your flat earth model, the entirety of Antarctic cannot possibly be lit by the sun 24/7 during the Summer in the Southern Hemisphere? So It is the sun and the moon that are in orbit. Is that on topic enough for you?
Thot i replied to that.I have already given my "thoughts" on those verses back in the thread. You are welcome to go look for them.
