• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have been doing some thinking and praying, and I really wanted to start this thread so we could mend CC.

Let's not go over what's happened, or use this thread to debate what happened. Let's just think of ways to make this better, and to go back to being what CC was meant to be.

Am not saying this thread is closed to non-members, but I would ask anyone who has issues with CC not post, simply because this thread really needs to be a healing, loving one. Thank you

I was thinking one way would be to use this thread to apologize to anyone you feel you may have hurt. I want to apologize to anyone I've hurt - either through things I've said or by modding decisions. I'll try to be better from now on, I promise

I'd also like to say what I think is special about CC, to remind us how lovely this forum is. Freitag - who hopefully will join us - said that when she was suffering, most of the support she received was from various members of CC. That speaks to how much love is here in this forum.

When people are down, or hurting, this forum bands together like nowhere else I've seen.

Conservative Christians are frequently seen as cold, and fighty, but this forum is about as inter-denominational as it gets, and yet prior to recently, we never fought, or battled or tore at each other. What a beautiful thing That this multi-denominational forum full of "fighty" people was so peaceful and loving. That's special, I think.

The very best thing is we have a thread to tell Jesus we love Him, and we have an awesome prayer thread, and we have Bible-study threads... we gave this forum to God when it first opened, and it's flourished beautifully, because His hand was on it.

I guess maybe that's what we need to do again. Give it back to God, and trust that He is so crazy in love with us all, He won't let us fall.

So, in terms of practical things we can do, and things we can do for one another, how do you think we can mend CC?

Just an addendum to say, that fellow mods, if you see any posts in here which are debating or not about how to fix things, please can they be deleted, as per Jim's prayer thread for Time? Thank you It's just, we all need for this thread to be positive and healing

Look if we cover up CC with fake love it's only going to be a matter of time before it explodes again.

WHAT is the purpose of CC...you mentioned that. I think that's something that deeply needs to be discussed since some members here seem to want to make it a social loving network more than a place that represents the Gospel to it's fullest extent.

I want to apologize for my negative comments in the past. I would like to see CC to grow and enjoy discussing issues and fellowshipping.

Not fake love. Honest to God, genuine love. First for God, then for one another.

Out in the boards, we stand for Christ as we all feel led to. We can't possibly do anything else, cos we love Him.

In CC, we can love one another the way He has commanded us to - whether we're members of CC, or not. That doesn't make it fake: it means we are obeying the Lord. It's the most honest, most wonderful thing we can do.

I'm just waiting to see how it goes here - honestly, we've tried figuring this out & it's all blown up every single time - I've been actively trying for days now and I finally just gave up.
& the more we try to explore, the worse this all gets.

Just moving forward is my solution - I have none left. The divide is that there's a group that doesn't want a mass "party crashing" of liberals here which starts altering and affecting the overall forum with differences of worldviews on things (if you're talking about anything more than butterflies & weather) & it's not what we initially signed up here to join in.
If people wanted to hang out with a large amount of liberals, I think they'de of joined WWMC.

I'm just going day by day - if it turns into what I think it might turn into here, I'll have to figure out a Plan -B-.
Not everyone has the same ideals in mind in why they joined CC and I don't think anyone should get upset at anyone when they show dislike due to their intention for disliking what this may become.

I know that I came to this forum with a specific purpose of it being my safe haven with fellow conservatives - I never once dreamed of this possibility - or such a fight to make it happen (the other reason for the division imo).

Random & casual drop in's I doubt any conservatives would have an issue with.

When or if it fails to be a safe haven or enjoyable, I'll deal with that then.

Just waiting to see how things come out in the wash here. Watching & waiting. Either way, God's in control and He always provides a place.

That's what I mentioned too - different people have different ideas for this place - one wants the influx of liberals & is happy to bring it, others came here for a safe haven of like minded conservatives...

There's already some conservs. sharing that this stifles their participation....
The vision is different and the 2 sides butt heads.

The purpose of CC is and always has been since it was first created, Fellowship.

this forum was created so that conservatives could have a Home Forum where they could talk amongst themselves without being either attacked as biggoted hate mongers, nor constantly forced to defend the basic tenets of their faith (absolute truth, the authority and inspiration of scripture, the traditional understandings of our faith regarding moral issues etc).

I don't think this place was ever intended to be an outreach, or a platform from which to address the rest of the forums. We are always a witness, and probably the best witness is just when people come here and see us as we are, relating to and discussing with each other. The "real" us as it were.

I respect that people want to be a light in the new FU and want to work for change in the current situation. That stuff can be talked about here, but at the same time, I don't think the point of this place is to export conservatism to the rest of the forum. If that is what we are called to do, then we should do it by actually going out to the other forums and engaging people there.

What I want out of this forum is simply a place to hang out and chat with other conservatives on topics of interest to me. To fellowship, to encourage and to be encouraged.
Personally I tend to enjoy friendly debate, and theological/doctrinal conversations more than the fluffy stuff, but thats just where my interest lies. I have no problem with those who like that stuff doing it to their heart's content. I'll drop in to what looks interesting to me and partake.
Its the hard, cold conservative in me, I'm sure, but I can't take warm fuzzy conversations for too long or my skin starts to feel creepy.

Sounds like you already said it GM.

I want to start off by asking for forgiveness if I have offended anyone or hurt their feelings. I would never knowingly hurt anyone.

One of my favorite sayings is "Let go and Let God". We need to forgive ourselves and each other, so that we can heal. And then turn it over to God - he is our father and our defender.

Love never fails and that is the answer. Loving each other doesn't mean we have to agree, but it does mean treating each other with respect & love despite the disagreements. All families have problems, but if they stick together they can work through them and come out the other side stronger and closer together.

One of the things that drew me to CCC in the first place was the lack of fighting over denominational differences. There was so much love here and I was immediately accepted. You even accepted me as a mod just because a few members vouched for me.

Despite recent events I want to thank you all for making this forum a wonderful place.

I think there is a place here for everyone. There is a place for CC's that want to fellowship, have serious discussion or debate. There is a place for visitors to fellowship (respectfully) and if they want to debate, there's a place for that also. For those who don't want/like to debate, such as myself, they stick to the main forum. There is no need for us to unite with anyone, that's why we have our own forum...but there's not reason why we can't fellowship with anyone.

Now, this is a thread that I want to post in. Thank you GreenMunchkin for starting this.

I apologize to Time and to Nadine for being nasty to them.

Frustration is a stupid thing. If you cannot get your point across, we act like it is the other person's fault.

I think that is what Macrina was trying to tell us.

I love each and every person here, and yes, NewGuy, it is real. I pray for this forum every single night and I would not do that if I didn't really feel something for y'all.

I don't know why all of this happened. I mean, families do not always get along and that is okay. It just felt like people were being so hateful and mean and I just got more and more upset myself.

Anyway, I pray that we can learn from this and move forward.

Lisa

I understand the concern here, but if a mass party crashing by liberals actually occured in such a way that the forum rules started to not be enforced or that there was an attempt to "liberalify" the rules and the forum etc... suffice to say CCC would not go gently into that goodnight.

I pity the poor foolish liberal who would try to take over this forum.

If any of my words offended you then I humbly ask for forgiveness...

I was drawn to this place because of the boldness of the people to stand on God's truth and were not afraid to tell others where they stood with Christ. I enjoyed the fellowshipping with everyone and learning more about the people. It's amazing that people I never heard of I have instantly considered my internet friends... What's also utterly amazing that there is such a blend of denominations here and people from all backgrounds, yet we were able to respect each other greatly.

Observation: It seems when a member of CC takes a strong stand for conservative theology in the WIKIs there is a response not only in the WIKIs but those opposing come here to extend the response.

I'm wondering what other denoms. that our liberal friends are visiting often & regularly?
7th day adventists? Lutheran? Baptist? Mormon? JW?
Or is the draw to CC only? and if so, WHY the pull here?
