I'm 25 now, in five years I'd like to be in a serious relationship or engaged.. maybe married. But I could only see the married part happening in the next five years if I were to meet somebody within the next year or so and if we are darn near perfect for each other. Which is highly unlikely lol. Now that's what I'd like but if it wasn't the case, I'd be okay with it. At 30 I hope to have my nice car and house and flat screen TV and I'd be able to travel so yeah.

If in five years, you were still single and had no significant prospects for marriage, would you be okay with that?

I'd be pretty down about it yeah.

I mean its hard for me to say if it will be ok or not because obviously I have little choice in the matter so its not like I can change it by saying "not ok".

But I would prefer to be married before I'm 30. But I think you are right, if my current prospect doesn't turn out like that then I may not be married before 30.

Voted for the second choice. I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately because I'm about to turn 26, which is closer to 30 than to 20. :p I always hoped I would be married by 30 but now that looks like it's not going to happen. A bit disappointing, but I can deal. I certainly don't think it means there's no hope left. :p

I'm 26 as well, i know the feeling; it's like time is out to get ya ;-p

Back to the OP i suppose if someone really was that worried about the 5 more years thing you could always make one of those deals with a best friend "if we aren't married by X" then we have to get married lol anyone ever hear of someone making a deal like that? I have but I've never seen people go through with it makes me laugh though.

Hmmm... well part of it is where you live. Not a very populated state. As of 2000, there were 71,173 unmarried white males between the ages of 25-40. Hmm... 78% of the population identifies itself as Protestant so lets say you have an actual dating pool of 55,000 males between 25 and 40. Hmm... Lets say theres an even distribution of ages (I don't think you would be that interested in guys 35-40). So really you would have a dating pool of around 30,000 males, most of which you probably wouldn't "click" with. But still, You have the advantage over a lot of other girls because you're pretty and smart and cool. Also, there are more males than females so you are outnumbered and can have your pick (supposedly). This is also as of 2000 so the numbers could be even more in your favor now.

:sorry: I'm a little bored today.

30,000 isn't nearly enough to choose from. :o

Actually, it's true that it doesn't seem like there are many guys to choose from around here. And the girls WAY outnumber the guys. There are probably about four girls for every guy here, in three different social circles that I travel in.

Maybe I need to relocate. ^_^

No, 30,000 isn't much at all. In California alone, there are around 1 million single males to choose from. How many of those are Christian and in your dating range? Maybe 200,000 lol. MAYBE. But that still beats AR. Although it is a huge state so the number of single Christian males per square mile would probably be much lower than Arkansas.. Florida is good for that though. It has a lot of single males, plenty of Christians, and isn't that big :) The other states like Texas and New York are either too big (Texas :p) or too urban and atheistic (New York).

Can you tell I like statistics?

I'd deal with it. Can't really conrol it. My goal was to be married by 25. I'll be 25 in less than a month, so . . .not likely. I suppose if I get married before 26 then that would still count, so to meet and marry someone in a year. It could happen, but it isn't likely. Plus, I'd have to account for the measure of craziness I am willing to indulge for the sake of love which is only in midrange right now, so things could take some time.

If 30 roles around, well, a lot can happen in five years and who knows where I'll be and what I'll be doing then, so I might not even care. My goal is to find out what God wants from me now and I'm working really hard on trusting him for the rest.

Your also making the assumption that those people who identify themselves as protestant actually take their faith seriously.

Far too often I've known a lot of people who treat their faith as though it where a hobby. And some even worse treat it as though it where a curse.

As for me, I think I need a girl that fits in this.

Yeah, I'm making that assumption for statistical purposes since that's kind of a hard thing to quantify let alone judge. But I believe the numbers are much lower than what I have listed. I'm just being generous lol. Anyway, all she has to do if she ever gets desperate is do her own The Bachelorette thread on CF lol. I'm sure she'll find a great quality individual that way. :p

I hear rumors that it's pretty nice if you head west a little bit..* I think you'd have no problem finding people that can see your coolness out that way. :o

*1600 miles-ish.

Also, I voted No, That Would Not Be Good Times.. :sigh: :sorry: I LOVE relationships.. and not having one for so long would probably be sad times for me. :sorry:

DB you didn't even take into account things like prison populations and people who speak other languages, that has to factor in somewhere with the single population.

But I don't think the survey included people in prisons. The poll was for single, white and non-hispanic males. I'm assuming most of the SWM's in AR speak English since it is the South after all.
