  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My father recently had a visit from his son in law, and and he took him fishing.

They were gone all day.

When they got back I asked them if they had caught anything and they said no, and it had been a really slow day.

I was disappointed because I wanted to eat whatever fish they may have caught.

Do any of you guys get on a boat, go out to sea, and fish?

Dad has sometimes retold me his experiencs of deep-sea fishing when he used to go out to sea with some of his friends from church, and sometimes they caught fish, he said, that was bigger than me (and I'm five foot three!).

Perhaps father is exaggerating about the size, though.

Fishing is really the ultimate sport for the outdoor enthusiast. Depending on your preference, it can be a consumptive or non consumptive activity. You can spend as much or as little on equipment and have relatively good levels of success. As many a bumper sticker has stated, many people feel that a bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work.
