  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi! I am a Christian woman that loves to fish (freshwater and saltwater). I was wondering if there are any women anglers in Orange County, CA that shared that same passion and would like to join???:)

Or if you just love to fish and want to write that's great too!!

Wouldn't mind doing some fishing in Canada or Alaska!! Maybe one day I will make it up there.
I just started fishing at the beginning of this year and haven't really decided what my favorite fish is to go for. I just enjoy going for whatever bites my line...catfish, bass, trout. The bass are fun because they are good fighters!
This month I am taking a trip out out San Deigo to fish for Tuna in Mexican waters!! It's going to be great. Hopefully I can get them in! LOL!
I think fishing is so relaxing and can be great thearpy...it gets my mind off everything.
Thanks for sharing.
Would love to hear others fishing experiences!! Male or female!

Hey, I'm no where near the states and I'm not big on freshwater fish... but I love the ocean and am out spearfishing almost every weekend :) ... Love the hunter-gatherer thing...

This summer I'm after my first kingfish (not sure what you call them over there).... apparently they're great fun.

I was training in one of our lakes a couple of years back and a catfish swam past. Silly thing - let me swim up behind it and grab it by the tail! Do you guys eat them over there? Here they're a pest and we just dump any we find...

Geez, there are waaayyyy too many Women fisherman in this thread....lol j/k.

I just got a fly rod for Christmas and can't wait to take it out on the river. I know absolutely nothing about it or the good spots to go, but I'll figure it out. Or I'll join the fishing club here.

:p too many women!

I have never gone fly fishing or deep sea fishing ~ both are on my 'bucket list' :D
Hubby used to tie his own flies...something else of interest to me for retirement.

It is enjoyable trolling the lake we live on ~ catching bass and horn pout.

In my youth and better health I loved ice fishing

Has anyone tied their own flies?

I always found that fascinating, as I watched hubby do it many years ago.

Being a nature nut and studying even 'flies'...it is on my bucket list to tie some and fish with them :D

I haven't ever done that, but would love to try it later on when I can get all the stuff for it.
There are some dvd's you can get that will explain it all, and some fly fishing shows on T.V.
I was even thinking about joining a local fly fishing club, they have one-on-one fly tieing courses. You may want to do a search for your area.

And on a separate note I did some more practice fly fishing in my pool last evening, and did finally end up catching something. Wasn't a fish, but the float that holds the chlorine. Got it and reeled it on in. lol

^_^ too funny!
At least you will have your technique down!

Hubby has a whole kit with all the supplies, and a good instruction book he used; I would just have to sit down and do it ;)
Maybe we can dig it all out and work on it this winter for spring fishing
He hasn't had much interest in fishing for quite a while though :(
I have just fished the lake I live on with crawlers and the few lures I have luck with

I love fishing for Bass the best, I love the fight from the fish. We have a pond where we live that does not allow motorized watercraft and while this pond the fish may not get real huge, almost everybody is a catch and release type of fishermen. The Bass in this average 3 to 5 pounds in this pond.

My other favorite type of fish to go after are the different varieties of trout and perch. There are some other types of fish in our area, but these three are the most prevalent ones.
