  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Dave Ramsey has a great radio talk show about finances. I listen to him every day, Mon.-Fri. Listeners call in with their financial questions, usually about how to get out of debt, but also questions on investing.

Dave is a great guy, gives sound Christian advice. I have learned a LOT listening to him.:)

You can listen to his radio program online, live or archives, at no cost.

(I'll try to find a link for you)

As bad as it sounds Certificates of Deposits. Put your cash in CD's. Although the interest rate is low it won't be lost no matter what the economy and market does.

A fairly decent rate of return can be locked in long term if you shop around and no possibility of losing the principle deposit. (Unless more than FDIC insurance covers per banking institution).

I believe, that a tenth of your increase should go to the work of the Gospel, A favorite pastor J Vernon Mcgee in one of his messages went beyond that even to the point of 2/10 - 3/10. I shyed away from that, but strongly believe that giving to the Lords work is you most important finacial responsibility. Speaking from an amatures perspective; after losing 30% in my 401k last year, I lowered my contribution from 7% to the portion that my company matches (3%). As we pull away from Israel, I believe we will go into sharp decline and eventually merge with other countries like Europe did. I put my money in a bank with intrest.

Thank y'all. Im just trying to get my life in order as God would have it. This is the year I totally turn everything over to him.
What an encouraging thing to read :)

I've never quite understood the issue of money, actually... are we even supposed to have spare money? Are we to give it too to those in need? Does having a savings account imply a lack of faith in His provisions?

And prosperity teachings have kind of leaked into mainstream Christianity and made it all dreadfully confusing. We tithe, and we ought to be looking after and helping those in need - to the point of an empty bank account, or with the amount we feel comfortable with?

I see Dave Ramsey has been recommended, and I agree. In addition to his radio program and FNC appearances, he has books out also.

If you're interested in general business news and opinions on the state of the market, I like Neal Cavuto on FNC. His show is called Your World with Neal Cavuto.
