  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've decided that I want to try my hand(s) at crocheting and have ordered the yard and hook (already have the pattern) to make some dish towels.

However....I have no idea what the directions mean and don't know how to make any of the stitches. Does anyone know any good website or youtube videos that can help me get started? Oh and by the way....I'm left handed.

Hi,
I love to crochet! It is so much fun!
I find that there are some great books on how to start out, but being shown is so much better, I direct you to... youtube! There are some fantastic tutorials!
I can't post a link for you as I am new, but if you search crochet left handed and the stitch you need to learn, eg chain, you will find what you need.
Good luck with it!
Feel free to let me know if you would like some more help with it!
Kim

I have no idea how to read patterns either! I learned how to start on my own from a you tube video and I can only do granny squares - which is all I'm confident to do but I'm sure there's some videos out there. Find out what the stitch is called, type it into google or another search engine with a phrase like "how to video" and you should hopefully find one.

Good luck!
