  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ephesians 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Normally people interpret this verse to mean the believer has stopped loving God and they need to get back to loving God with all there heart, soul, mind and strength.
I would like to give a different take on this.
I think that "first love" is remembering and focusing on how much God loves us. He is first.
He loved us with all His heart, soul mind and strength.
And because He loved us the way He did, we, when we realize what He has done for us, will love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Don't focus on your love for Him, or your faith in Him. Meditate on what He has done, His faithfulness and your love and faith will grow.

This is a good point, in that it is our focus on GOD that enables us to be thankful that He loves us, and in turn, our thankfulness is re-newed, and we are once again, humbled at His inexplicable grace and His precious heart for us. It's like He "wins" our hearts, once again.

How precious is THAT??!!!
