First Diagnosed.

At what age were you first diagnosed?
I was 8, my mother 56.
She had a heartfelt talk with me about a year ago, on how she couldn't imagine taking medication the rest of her life. Of course I laughed because she had only been on it for 3 years, versus my 12 (at the time).
I was thinking about this, and it just got me wondering on when other people have been 'diagnosed'.

35 or 36 years old ...though my parents and I knew something was amiss since infancy. It was such a wonderful thing for me to find out finally the answers to so many symptoms I knew were connected, just didn't know how. It took about a year to find the right meds and doses, and it was worth every second!

I regret so much not having found out earlier. I finished undergrad with a Biology major, Chemistry minor (pre-med) with competative grades and MCAT scores, but knew I couldn't withstand the emotional rigors of med school. Had I known and been treated, I probably wouldn've gone on ...wasn't God's plan, I guess. But I'm so thankful to know now!

bp. about a year ago, but I have had bouts of diagnosed and medicated depression since age 21, and first remember being suicidal at age 16, but with knowledge can now trace symptoms much younger!
