First birthday

I hope that this doesn't sound too self-centered or self-serving...

I'd appreciate prayers/support, as I face my first birthday without my mom on Saturday. I'm on vacation this, if for no other reason than I didn't want to be working on that day this year. I did work last year--a day that happened to be one of my mom's last good days. She sang "Happy Birthday" to me twice!

Things aren't going bad really, I've just been coming to the realization that the churches that I'm serving aren't right for me. They want someone I'm not. That and there may be spiritual strongholds too. (I've posted elsewhere about this, so I won't go on.)

Thank you KayKay for your prayers and support. It means a lot. A friend is taking me out for lunch. I think we'll be going out of town (for me, it means trying Russian food for the first time). I'm looking forward to it. Then in the evening, it will be worship service, where I'm responsible for getting there and worshiping and nothing else.

I am praying for you, too. Yes, these anniversaries can be hard.

I understand too, to the joy of being in a service where I get to just worship....I am not officially a pastor, but I teach Wednesday nights at my church, and also do Sunday school for our adults. It's an awesome privilege, but it's also good to take some time to just be...I relate.

Thanks KayKay for the early Happy Birthday wishes. I've already received several cards. Two have a dog theme--my friends know how I LOVE dogs! One is just plain cute...the other very funny but true.

I had a wonderful and blessed birthday. God blessed me with a beautiful, WARM, early fall day. Worship, likewise, was wonderful that evening.

This year's birthday card theme seems to be dog-related. I love dogs (actually, I think I may be a bit of a "sucker" for fur). Perhaps some day, I'll get a dog of my own!

Birthdays have been the hardest for me as well. Not just mine but my moms and my sisters too. Today is my dad's birthday. Do they celebrate birthdays in heaven? I really wish.
