I only seem to have one extreme or the other. The firey relationships end up in tears, and the cosy relationships end up in boredom. Which do you prefer, or are in?

I must be a sucker for punishment because i always prefer the firey relationships, maybe because i like to be kept on my toes, or maybe i just like a good argument.

Is it possible to have a balance between the 2? If so i guess i've just been unlucky.

I like warm and cosy and comfortable....everyone has a little hic-up or disagreement sometimes. With me it's....if you don't like what I'm doing....ie, the way I cook or keep the house....do it yourself...problem solved !! I do keep a clean house, and I'm just a simple cook, but to my knowledge I haven't poisoned anyone in about 36 yrs., so I cant be doing anything too bad. I like quiet and comfy....and peaceful....too old for fire anymore....

You're still young, Stan. Some people take a long time to reach the point of maturity where they can sustain a balanced relationship. From some of your other postings, I wonder if you tend to get into relationships based pretty purely on whether there is a strong element of attraction, and without taking the time to get to know the other person in any real detail. In other words, slow down.

I don't think any relationship is straightforward. At the moment, I'm in a happy, cosy relationship, but my boyfriend and I frequently engage in impassioned debate :p I like that balance.

My boyfriend is my best friend as well as my lover. Maybe that's why it's working out for us at the moment :)

I think I'd always choose fiery over cosy because I'm quite a fiery person and I need to have intense relationships, not just with boyfriends, but with friends too - i don't tend to do things half-way.

Sometimes a cosy relationship suits people better though and there ain't nothing wrong with that!

One thing you have to be careful about in a fiery relationship is that it doesn't get too fiery!! lol you're right - that does often end up in tears. Bombilla is right to some extent that with maturity comes more mature relationships.... often. But personally - i'd never want to lose the fire from a relationship if that's what 'maturity' can mean for some.

I like a balance. I would never want to be in a relationship where all we do is argue or debate whenever we talk. I don't mind a good discussion with disagreements, it keeps us both sharp and thinking. On the other hand, it's nice to have several things in common so it's easier to relate.

I was just thinking that after reading different posts......Are we talking firey as in we disagree and/or argue with our SO alot and cozy as in we get along and maintain peace? Or firey as in the relationship is spicey and hot, like a super charged infatuation (for lack of a better way to describe what I'm thinking) and cozy as in the relationship is calm and low key but equally as loving?

I try to balance both in my relationship. Some days we're on fire with love, debate, competition, or with short attention spans. Other days, we sit down and have a nice cuddle, nap, or we read together. And the cycle of being fiery to cozy can take place many times during the day. But I do like to keep our relationship unconventional. We're both pretty random and impulsive, so we have fun no matter what.

In answer to the question of how i define firey (sorry, fiery.. i'll take your word for it that is the correct spelling), i think the above quote is accurate to how i would define it for the purpose of the post.

I was happy to take your word for it (as i've noticed you are a walking dictionary ;)), but thanks all the same :)

Haha, sorry. The insistence on this forum on citations left, right and centre has made me develop a habit ;)
