just so your message could be shared!! I did search for firefly before posting but your thread didnt show up!Loki said:Anyone seen Firefly? It's sort of a sci-fi/western, with the best of both worlds, and avoiding most the painful cliches of both. It was on Fox for a half a season before they cancelled it, but the fan response had already become so strong that they released a DVD set of the entire series, plus 3 episodes Fox never aired.
Are there any CF browncoats? (For those who don't know the lingo, a Browncoat is a Firefly fan, and also someone in the show who fought for the Independence against the Alliance in the battle to unite the planets).
It was written by Joss Whedon, who is most famous for Buffy and Angel, but in my opinion, it's better writing than those shows. It deals with a search for meaning in the bleakness of space, along with other subplots involving a sort of CIA-like group that experiments on humans, the Reavers (Injuns, essentially), who are like humans stripped of their humanity, and a variety of other colorful characters. The show has 9 core characters aboard a firefly class transport ship. They're not heroes, they're not well-respected people, but this is their story. There's the Captain who's lost his faith (but not his belief) in God, his loyal first mate Zoe, her comical pilot husband, Wash, the mercenary, Jayne, who may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but is an excellent warrior, Kaylee, the heart of the ship, and the mechanic, Inara, the high-priced, well-respected call-girl, Shepherd Book, the preacher with a dark past, Simon, the doctor, who rescued his little sister, River, from a government institution that experimented on her.
Great show, I highly recommend checking it out.
