I am a volunteer firefighter and I love it. My grandfather was fire chief years ago and started a fire department that is now one of the best ones where I live. My mom always wanted to be a firefighter, and never did anything about it.

I was on nozzle a few weeks ago cleaning off a wharf to get rid of the rocks. It was awesome. I had been on it before but not actually walking with it.

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time. I got married in April so my life's changed a little (for the better of course)! Anyway, I'll try to start posting some more pics/stories when I get a few minutes here and there. Hope ya'll are doin well. God Bless and stay safe!!

My department actually got a call recently and it was my first real call, I went to a false alarm before. It was a MVA (a car and a truck) and both drivers are going to be okay. I never got to see the scene! I was at my friend's house in another town and by the time I got there everyone was gone so I ended up going over to a pond with one of our trucks to fill it up with water and the pump didn't work... and then we got a portable pump from another truck and that took awhile before we got it working... what a time.

Yeah, but I never saw anything...

We received a medical call today and en route the paramedics called and said we weren't needed. They don't always call us, but when they do, they always call too late.

my dad was a firefighter for a long time. he retired last year due to a back injury on the job.

please pray for my department's USAR task force who were mobilized yesterday morning to help w/hurricane katrina.

Well, I was all excited I found a part-time job but after 16 hrs. of working there I quit... They wanted me to work every night by myself and go to school...

Our banquet is Nov. 19th... and my name was in the paper twice for Fire Prevention Week (all the departments in the area were in the paper). I also wrote an article for the school newsletter on Fire Prevention Week and it got in!!!!

I have a friend who's going to become a firefighter. Also one of my nicknames is crazy Pyro, but I don't go around lighting fires. (it's a long story how I got that name)
