  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And it's a Colt too! Nothing says I love you, Merry Christmas like a firearm!

 I carry a Beretta 92 but I did shoot Expert in USMC with a 1911 (30 years ago) and think I should get back in touch with my roots ;)

This is a new revelation to me regarding Rev. 19:11.

As for Colts versus GI types, the sites are better on the new ones. I didn't realize how much I would miss my Springfield Armory 1911A1 until I used it in a trade for a Sig P220. And then a year later, I saw this Colt Commander (all steel) and it was love at first sight. To keep it company, I later bought a full size stainless Sig 1911 with night sights. They are very happy, and so am I.

Yes. I carry a Glock 27 (.40) with a Pearce extension, and I have a Glock 26 (9 mm) in my car. I sleep with a Glock 23 (.40) and my wife sleeps with a Glock 22 (.40). When I put enough rounds through one of my 1911s (.45), they will probably take over night duty. My last purchase was a Glock 33 (.357). This will be an alternate carry gun. The gun store owner hit me in the head with a handful of papers he was holding while I was looking at it through the display case. So when he offered it to me for less than $390, my brain damaged head immediately said "I'll take it". Actually, the owner is a character and knows me as a repeat customer.

So you're really a Glock guy^_^~fellow at work just bought a used (cop) Glock 19 after he said he'd never buy one~too good a deal he said. I've fired them rather well but thought they felt more like holding a brick; gun shop guy said I must have Italian hands instead of German hands lol since I preferred Beretta...I bet one of those Robar custom jobs would feel pretty good though.

The shotgun is a Mossberg and the revolver is a Taurus 38 Special.

Do you plan on hunting with the shotgun or is it home defense? I have a .38 Smith & Wesson Model 60 that has been a carry gun for a lot of years for me but when PA moved to License to Carry and away from Concealed Carry permits I'm less concerned about being "made" so I go with the big auto instead.

Initially I thought about wanting it for home defense, but I've been thinking about taking a hunter safety class and going hunting.

Glocks, I have a few. After I bought my first two Glocks, I really wanted a Beretta 92F. Instead after shooting a 1911 range gun, I bought my first 1911, a Springfield Armory 1911A1 and put a Hogue finger-groove grip on it. Very pleasant to shoot, but I hated the GI sights. I eventually bought a Taurus PT92AF, which was built using Beretta equipment in Brazil. Nice gun, reasonably accurate, high capacity, etc, but it doesn't wow me like some other guns I have. My oldest Glocks are Gen II. I use Hogue Handall grips on these. I have one Glock 17 with a RTF2 finish. The grip is almost too aggressive. My Sig P229 was a former cop gun but was reconditioned by Sig Sauer. Sig changed the caliber from .357 Sig to .40 S&W. I may buy a .357 Sig barrel for it sometime.

You've quite the collection~I've heard good things about .357 Sig though it's still on the "obscure" side of things~~10mm would be the "obscure" caliber of choice for me. When choosing between the Beretta & Taurus I decided I liked the slide mounted switch over the frame mount though never heard much bad about the Taurus model other than the time the gunshop owner said he sold one, and the guy had problems at the range with accuracy and it turned out Taurus send an unrifled barrel lol.

I had Handall on my Beretta for awhile but ended up with some regular rubber grips on it~even on my revolvers I go with Pachmayr "Presentation" style, couldn't get my fingers to match anyone's "finger groove" style, got big paws here lol. I like nice figured wood (have some nice Hogue wood on my Ruger MkII SS) but can't beat rubber.

I hear you about GI sights~Novak-style sights are pretty nice-my problem is that I have bifocals/progressive lenses and it's not as much fun at the range as it used to be---wish I could afford Crimson Trace on all my handguns and some kind of Aimpoint/Trijicon sort of thing on my .44 Mag lever action.

I'm actually downsizing my collection now, sold off a Ruger .44 Redhawk a couple months ago and going to trade off a .32 Beretta for a second-hand 870 or Mossberg sometime.

If the Mossberg is a Model500,you will enjoy it..I enjoyed mine while I had it(destroyed in a house fire).

Most accurate handgun I've ever known. Wish I had one, but sadly my wife is terrified of the idea of them in the house...

I was not for the idea of having guns in the house, except for the guns my husband hunts with, but with everything that is happening in the world, I actually have started getting concerned about what tomorrow will look like, with more and more people out of work, and higher and higher taxes. It just doesn't look pretty to me.

I agree, the outlook is very bleak right now. I really wish my wife would get over her fears, so I'm going to take her out and let her shoot my old .22 long single shot bolt action rifle and let her get used to it. I pray it works!

I am a big fan of firearms. Every jobs I've had to date required the carrying of one. Last year my wife got me the Ruger LCP. I love that little gun.

They sure are small~I remember when I bought my .32 Tomcat and thought it was little, now they make 9mm smaller...doesn't help me much though I've large hands and don't like tiny guns~~J-frame is about the limit.
