A few of my beliefs:
Creation
I take the Creation account (Genesis 1-2) literally. I believe, therefore, that God has existed in eternity past (Genesis 1:1). I believe He literally spoke the universe into existence over the course of six literal days and nights (twenty-four hour periods). I believe that because of the repeated phrase "there was evening, and there was morning, the...day." Though when taken by itself the word "day" could be mistranslated as a thousand years (because of a misinterpretation of 2 Peter 3:8 or Psalm 90:4), the words "evening" and "morning" are
'ereb and
boqer, respectively. Nowhere else in Scripture are these words used to denote a thousand year time period. Logically, it does make sense that such a large God would consider a thousand years to be one day for Himself. However, in terms of Scripture, it was written for man, not for God. Thus, logically, one should understand a "day" to be twenty-four hours.
The reason I take the Bible literally in this account is also because of the prophecy of Christ in Genesis 3:15, which was confirmed when Christ's head was "bit" by death on the cross. The serpent's head will be crushed upon Christ's return.
If I can't take that prophecy literally, than I cannot believe that a man named Jesus Christ actually existed and said who He said He was, and thus my faith has no point.
Sin
I believe that women are given a bad rap because of Eve's sin. Yes, Eve most definitely sinned in eating of the fruit of the tree. However, Adam (who was with her) failed in his responsibility as her husband. He failed to stand for righteousness, and thus we (both male and female) are responsible for our sin.
