it's disgusting.
of all the threads here, not one talks about Halo 3.
so, can we, or can we not, talk about the biggest video game event of the decade? with close to 4 million preorders (http://www.xe360.com/article/Halo_3/3837.html may or may not be verified) this is going to be bigger than any movie opening. except maybe "star wars".

so to my fellow Halo playing addicts, what are u expecting most from Halo 3?

I would just like to violate this thread by saying that the only good thing to come from Halo, was Red vs Blue. Other than that I seriously cannot stand the game. Right, I'm done!

I don't really like Halo.

3 of my friends are totally Halo minded, so I've played maybe 10 hours worth of Halo multiplayer both on Xbox and PC..

and just, bleh.

You move like a snail, the weapons are innacurate, I suck with the controller, etc...

They're always blabbering about how good the story and music is, so I'm sure there's something there... but I'll just stay with my Half-Life

Weapons are inaccurate if you don't aim. Sure it may seem like a pray n spray type of game, but it's best if you know how to shoot. Or even if you can play without shooting (melee only). that's the best way.

Biggest video game event of the decade? For another First Person Shooter in a genre so overcrowded already? For a sequel to a sequel to a game that wasn't really all that great, it was just all the Xbox had going for it at the time?

Halo can be fun as a multiplayer game, but as someone who owns and has played through both Halo 1 and 2, I honestly could care less about 3. Shoot, reload, repeat. Throw grenade. Wash, rinse, repeat. Nothing spectacular there.

Halo is by far th best thing that ever happened to the gaming community, there is WAY more than shoot and reload, you obvioulsy haven't played the game more than an hour, and you really suck at it.

Halo has the most grand storyline I've ever seen in a game, and I've seen alot. I've read the books, and know all there is to know about halo that has been released. The storyline is, amazing, juicy, and grand.

Halo 3 will be the best game ever, until of course, Halo Wars.

Not at all interested in Halo 3. I played both 1 and two, both online and offline, and was grossly underwhelmed. Seriously - I had played online games on the pc that blew this stuff out of the water over a decade ago. I've never understood this rabid Halo love. It's a mediocre franchise at best. But hey, it's your money, waste it on whatver you want.

Have you even read the books? Or beat the campaign? Or played the Halo 3 beta? It was amazing, and the storyline is unparralled. There is no game out that has a storyline as grand as Halo.

In your opinion.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of different people here with varying tastes and preferences. I played Halo all the way through and thought it was pretty good, though nothing spectacular. I thought System Shock 2 was a much better game. It's all about preferences. I wouldn't say Halo sucks and anyone who likes it is retarded. If anything, I'd say that anyone who says things like that for or against Halo is retarded but that's a different issue.

Sometimes it seems like there is this Halo cult out there and they take their proselytizing very seriously. Beware infidels, the Haloites are coming!

Just about any RPG has a storyline grander than Halo. Any Final Fantasy, anything from the Tales series, Xenosaga, .hack - they all have much more complex and compelling stories than Halo. Even Metal Gear Solid has a much more interesting and deep story than Halo.

No, I haven't read the books, and I have no intention to do so. A good game can stand on its merits alone, not rely on other sources to make it "good." And, as I said in my previous post, yes I have played and FINISHED both games.

You want a grand storyline?

Go play Chrono Trigger. Or Final Fantasy VI & VII. Or Tales of Symphonia. Metal Gear Solid. Even the Diablo and Warcraft (NOT World of Warcraft, but the games before it) had in-depth stories that were more interesting than Halo.

And besides, regardless of how good a storyline is, if all the interaction with that story that the player gets to experience is Shoot-reload-repeat, then it gets real dull real fast.

However, Dust and Ashes is right. This is all my opinion. If Halo is all you need to keep you entertained, then enjoy. But if you ask me, you're really missing out on the more interesting and deep games out there.

oh yea its the best story line ever.

Holy **** its a giant ring that going to blow up the earth, lets blow it up first and blow up the flood.

Then, Holy **** the aliens landed on earth and then they built another ring, lets blow that up too. And then the flood comes back so lets bash them again.

3 will probably have another ring that is built and it will be the biggest of all of them and you have to blow it up. then the flood comes back and master chief and the arbiter fight together and kill the forces of evil and everyone is happy.

The best thing that could happen is if master chief lands on earth after beating the game and it explodes killing everyone.

You could get the secret alternate ending if you go through the game on super legendary (like from 2 with the skull) without ever getting hit and killing ever other enemy and you have to do it all in less then 2 hours using only your bash.

Not to mention Bungie's own earlier Marathon games.

Shoot, reload, repeat. Throw grenade. Wash, rinse, repeat. Nothing spectacular there.

Hey, I could break down your vaunted RPGs simarily, at least Halo lets you do your own fighting and not just click *dice roll* click, not that I disagree about Halo's mediocrity.

Halo has the most grand storyline I've ever seen in a game, and I've seen alot

care to name some of them? Have htey all be fighting games? Topscrollers from like 1990 with little plot beyond "kill waves of enemies and boss, advance a level, kill waves of enemies and boss..."? Flight sims? Simcity 2000?

Halo is by far th best thing that ever happened to the gaming community,
You're thinking of the polygon.

there is WAY more than shoot and reload, you obvioulsy haven't played the game more than an hour, and you really suck at it.

You're wrong actually. You may want to argue you can use tactics and what not, but the weakness of your weapons/strength of you and your enemies, especially on higher difficulty, means nearlyall fights in the end will resemble 18th century naval warfare. Halo isn't "Operation:Flashpoint" (another game with a better story by the way) with space monsters.

I you like the "Action->cutscene-> action" approach, try "Outlaws" or "Interstate 76".

ANd since Warcraft was brought up, "Command and Conquer" had a much better storyline than Halo.

I've read the books,
There's Halo books?

and know all there is to know about halo that has been released. The storyline is, amazing, juicy, and grand.
Halo's was decent, it made a good excuse to have a space war and and wasn't all convoluted like Halo 2's, but nothing special.
Halo 2 falls apart after the action on Earth, and gets progessively lamer.Did anyone else hate that you switched sides in Halo 2?

Hvae you ever played any RPG's or Adventure games? Try like "Deus Ex" "Fallout" "Grim Fandango" and the aalready mentioned "System Shock 2" and then say Halo has the best storyline. And if you want a good action game, go buy "Operation: Flashpoint".

Halo 3 will be the best game ever, until of course, Halo Wars.

No, no it won't.
