• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi,

My mum passed over due to cancer 8 weeks ago. As the time is getting more I feel i am getting worse with my grief. People don't phone me anymore and my dad died 13 years ago. I am married with 2 children but am not that close emotionally to my husband. I don't have any other family who are close and I thought my cousin was getting very friendly but she says now that if she doesn't ring its because her back is bad and she doesn't feel social?!?
I always cry out the name of Jesus when I am upset as it does help me but I don't know how I am going to get through the rest of my life.....

I received an e-mail from a precious person who lost her loved one and my way of praying for people is to ask God if He has a word for them and it comes in the form of a poem.

Here is the poem that God gave me for that hurting heart - I believe it will bring peace to you also.
SHARE IN THE GLORY OF A LOVED ONE

This loved one you cherish may now be out of your physical sight.
Keep this precious soul always in your mind and always praise their spirited fight.

Never think for a moment their faith was in
vain.
My arms were wrapped around them and helped them endure the pain.

While you enjoyed this wonderful laughter and caring heart,
Remember my precious ones, they are still living in laughter, only now they no longer have to dodge the enemy's darts.

You feel as if you have lost even part of
yourself.
Be at peace and know your loved one is enjoying Heavens Beautiful Wealth.

Be happy for this precious one who has won the race.
Picture them in Heaven, basking in God's Glory upon their face.

Never look upon this passing with sadness of this precious one.
The Blessings are overwhelming as they walk hand in hand with My Son.

Keep your hearts and souls pure and without blemish.
Build up high your crowns which will be waiting for you when your walk here is finished.

Gather around you all those lives this precious soul has touched.
Help them to look to Heaven and know their Precious Savior loves them 'Oh so very much.'

Jesus' arms are wrapped around you and encompasses you all.
His call to you is 'hold up those remaining and never let them fall.'

As your thoughts flow in remembrance of this precious one.
Delight in the Glory that is the prize for the battle won.

You will be in my prayers to find the Peace that passes all understanding. Just remember your mothers strength and know she would expect that same strength from you as a tribute to her.

 I'm so very sorry about your mother. Words are not adequate to express my sympathy to you. I understand grief, as my daddy passed away a little over 7 years ago - and I still have that grief. You are not alone - you know that because you have Jesus. It can really be hard if you can't just talk to someone though.

Please feel free to pm me if you would like to. You will be in my prayers dear. :prayer:

I am truely with you in your greif. I lost my mom July 20, 2004 and we lost my husbands dad Sept.20, 2004. That was real hard. Although we knew my mom was going she had a severe stroke Oct 1, 1997. The blessed thing was after my mom's stroke I started taking her to church and she recieved the Lord Jesus into her life. I miss her so much. I think about how much she suffered during those 7 years and how happy she is now. We all go through a greiving process. I should be a pro as I have lost mom, a son, 2 brothers, grandmothers...etc. Anyway I do know that it is ok to greive and it WILL get easier in due time. Do not hold it in. I did that when my son died...it is NOT a good thing to do. My husband sometimes seems "cold" to it all. I know he is not. I have even asked him befor if he misses his dad like I miss my mom. He says yes and then wont talk about it. I think that some men deal with it differently. Ask God to give you peace that passes ALL understanding. I ask God to talk to me through my dreams that way I dont miss a thing. Sometimes it helps, but we have to realize that God does different things so that we do not get overwelmed with our grief. I can honestly say that IN TIME it will get better. I focus on that blessed day that I get to see my mom and my son and my brothers.

I hope this helps. I will keep you lifted in prayer. I ask that God exchange your tears for joy!

Hi Emmasmum

I lost my mother to cancer as well in March.
I try my hardest not to think about the fact that she is gone too much because I loved her so and it just seems so unreal.

I imagine you must feel the same.
Was your mom a special lady?? Care to tell me about her?
