  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just curious, have other college students found it hard to find "good" christian friends on their campuses? ...Its one thing to have friends that claim christianity, but its another to have friends who truely live the life style...I'm beginning to feel like im a needle in a hay stack haha ..please share you expierences and thoughts on why young people are in the current state we are in?

People will always challenge your beliefs, especially in college, since it's a learning environment. It can actually help you grow in your faith after you get over the initial shock.

Your campus should have Christian organizations already established. Check your schools website. A common non-denom one is InterVarsity, they're pretty much everywhere. Some denominations will send an entire contingent to cover a school/area to cater to their members. For example, most campuses have a Newman Society with a few priests assigned to its delegation. I personally love InterVarsity. We're a minority for sure, but we have a lot of fun, and it's always good to be in the company of others like yourself.

Have you tried joining a campus fellowship or a small group at your church? That's how I met most of my Christian friends. We're a small minority on my campus, so it's almost impossible to meet other Christians in class or through secular extracurriculars.
Yeah I had gone to a student fellowship group for a while but I started to realize the kids were still just like everybody else..and besides worshipping we didnt have much else in common.

I skipped out on the whole college deal, as led to through much prayer, but out of the friends from Highschool who went to college... I know two who live a christian life style, and many who profess to believe, but do not live it.

I believe people our age have left the 'first love' because they allowed themselves to loose their passion and their zeal. The moved away from home and thought.. 'I can do what I want now! No parents to tell me no!" Which is what I did as well to an extent of staying within the boundaries of my faith, and continuing to seek! So most people our age did go through the 'I'm saved and on fire for God phase" but sadly, they left the first love! So we need to return to the first love, and do the first works! Something I've been working on the past few weeks! And boy oh boy is it so much better to live to do the first works and operate in the first love! I'm going to do all I can to stay here (doing the first works/love) and to grow in it!

I've found that it's hard to find Christian friends unless you get involved... I have a hard time making friends as it is, and going to groups like CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) and the college group at my church has really helped me. And of course, I have a network of good Christian friends here :)

Be blessed,

Surprisingly the converse was true for me. I found it easy to meet Christian frens @ University. I was involved in IVCF (Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship) and I was quite active in a church youth group. But back home I find it very difficult to meet "devout" Christian frens and now that I am finished with university I don't even know where to meet them other than at church.
