  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The key to finding a deeper fellowship is found in the following, I believe:

1. Being first of all a "born again" believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, not just a follower of His teachings;

2. Staying devoted to the Lord Jesus in worship and fellowship daily, rather than just a church-goer on Sunday;

3. Reading the Word of God daily, rather than taking a few verses here and there;

4. Praying always to keep in communion with the Lord Jesus, rather than just telling Him what you want;

5. Studying the Word of God to know God's expectations, rather than our own ideas and religious ways;

6. Avoiding religious ideas of men, and proving all things by the Bible, rather than the many voices around one;

7. Keeping in conformity to God through His Word and prayer, and not allowing self and flesh to get in the way.

Dear 1watchman. God made us in His image, He loves us, and He wants us back again. Jesus told Nicodemus: " thou must be born again," and Nicodemus did not know what Jesus meant. The Bible, God`s Word to Man, keeps telling us " Repent," change our selfish and unloving character, INTO: Loving God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds." Also: " love our neighbour as ourselves." Jesus points out: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Love is of great importance, not only a good feeling, also a Verb/doing-word. In Matthew, chapter 22, verses 35-40, Jesus tells a Lawyer the very importance of Love, selfless and beneficial. To love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds, tells us what God wants from us, simply and straightforward. As for loving our neighbour as ourselves, what could be more explicit? God wants us to treat all we know and all we meet, whether friends or not friends, " As we would love to be treated," with love and kindness, with consideration and a helping hand, (if needed) with friendly and encouraging words, No anger or malice, no envy or jealousy, and forgive as God has forgiven us. In short, being a better person, a better neighbour, and a loving representative of our Loving Heavenly Father. Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give us His Love. " Ask and ye will receive," is what Jesus told us, and promised us. God will see our sincere efforts to love/treat all as we are commanded, and God will approve and bless us: God will see our Love to Him by following His Commandments/loving advice. We will experience a wonderful and deep fellowship with God our Heavenly Father, Jesus our Saviour, the Holy Spirit our Helper and Teacher, and our Christian brothers and sisters. I say this with love, watchman. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
