  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A find in south Africa has science puzzled and scratching their heads. If the finding proves to be what it looks like it will rewrite Evolution. The finding has been carbon dated to 3.5 million years. The bones are human like and from what they have pieced together so far says it walked on two legs in a straight upright position.

Hmm. Wonder what kind of damage this will cause Evolution. Wonder what kind of damage control will be used on info comming out of South Africa. It will be interesting watching this unfold.

Can't give links. It was on the news radio as I was driving I heard it. But maybe if we all do a search we can find out more on this and come back here and post. I for one would like to find out more. Any ideas on what would be a good base of words to use in a search engine for this?

IC. So you throw out a claim and we are supposed to do the work and find it?

a good tip is to always back up what you say. Can you find a link to this story? If so, post it so that we can find out more.

This smug attitude is getting grating. Please back up your own claims.

No, It was a news station. It was on Am band. There's no good christain channel on am band where I am at. Besides, I was driving my 74 all orginal mercury comet with a 302 engine. It only has an am radio. And it has 58,000 miles on it and almost looks new. Goes up for sell tomarrow.

I guess I'm just not credible. O well guess the news is not either. Just thought I'd post it before I forgot the details on what I heard. Maybe it's so new there's no links. It did sound like breaking news. At least I admit I had nothing to back it. To tell the truth is always better. But if it turns out to be a hoax. I'd like to know who started it. The next time I listen to the news on that channel, I find out what news source it is. I guess from that you'll figure if it is creditable news. It might be srm news source not sure. Whatever that is.

Well, getting the basic facts wrong, like carbon dating something to 3.5 million years, and then not providing any way to follow up on your claim can do that...

O well guess the news is not either.

Sadly it often is not where science is concerned. Remember most journalists have not had a science class since high school and they also have to hype a story to sell it... A scientist says something is interesting and that it may cast human evolution in a new light and suddenly you hear about how the scientific world has been turned on it's ear and evolution is in doubt when it realy was not.

If the story is true then I wouldn't count on seeing much if any media coverage on it. It will most probably be covered up so as to not disturb the all ready faulty, crumbling foundation evolution sit's upon.

I love seeing how all the evolutionist forumers here come running to this thread crying foul! LOL!

Anytime anyone finds anything, all they have is another peice to the puzzle. But because they want to get written up in the newspaper, or they want to write a paper for publication, or they need funding, or they want to sell a book, then they need a gimmic. They need to be able to say they have found a very important peice to the puzzle.

In general if they find something that is ape like, they assign it a older age or date. If they find something that is more human like, then they assign it a younger age or a youger date. What there is a real shortage of, is what they use to call Darwin's missing link. Bones that look both human and ape like.

Every now and then, they find an ape that is more human like than the rest of them. But it is rare. They usually assign them a middle date around 3 to 5 million years of age. This was the case with Lucy, but really what they did with Lucy was they created a composite using bones from different skeltons. So they took a ape that looked a bit more human and made it look even more human like by mixing in some humanoid bones from other skeltons.

For me, when I go to a look at these bones or a plaster copy of the bones, it is obvious that they have bones mixed in that just do not belong there. But maybe not everyone notices. They do not deny that they have mixed other bones in. Usually they "claim" that there skelton was not a full skelton so they had to fill in the missing peices as best as they could. But really, they are just manupulation things to try and support their pet theory.

http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20020708/hominid.html

http://www.scienceinafrica.co.za/2002/august/toumai.htm

If you find an ape or of you find a human skelton, your going to get a big: "so what" we got lots of that stuff. So the real find is if you can claim it is half ape, half human. The missing link or the transitory species. That is what everyone is trying to find, and some claim they find it, by mixing bones from apes and humanoids.

Actually, sense there is no evolution then there is not going to be a transitory species. Never has been, never will be. They can look all they want, but they will never find it. I am just amazed that more people do not laugh at their attempt to prove evolution. It use to be more funny that what it is now, because they are more desperate now to try and keep this dead theory afloat. Because peice by peice it has been falisified. The problem is, if you eliminate Darwins theory, they have nothing to replace it with. So they have to keep trying to patch it up to keep it inflated.

Actually, it goes back to Plato and Aristotal. But no one wants to admit that, because then they would have to admit that it has already been falsified. It was a dead theory when Darwin tried to revive it, and soon it will go back to where he found it.

This reminds me in a way of the Raelians and the mass media coverage of their claim that they cloned the first human. Editorials and commentary for days by all the world's media outlet's covered the story but with no proof and none even now. Talk about someone throwing a claim out there and not backing it up! WOW!

This statement leads me to believe that this is false.

Radiocarbon dating extends back with accuracy only to ~50,000 years before present and thus would not give a date of 3.5 million years.

Do ya really?  That's fun.  So perhaps you could give us one shred of evidence that this story is anything other than complete malarkey?  A link to a journal article?  Anything?

I mean surely the crack team of scientists at AIG and the ICR have done an analysis of this find.  This evidence that shreds the fooundations of biology must have gotten their attention.  Why have they not begun to cackle about this most important discovery yet?

Er. Carbon dating can't go to 3.5 million years; thus, whatever the truth is, the above paragraph isn't it.

That's funny since Raelians are creationists/idists and believe cloning is what will prove them right.

Yes I do brett! I don't know if this story is true, for all I know it was all made up. I'm just offering an opinion on IF the story is true.

Yes I do think it rather funny how the evolutionists all pounced on this guy for doing nothing more then relaying a news report he heard on his radio. Some of you guys act like you want to tear him to pieces because he didn't post any links to the story. And now you want to pounce on me, lol, it just keeps getting better!
