Wow, when stuff happens, it surely happens. Before Easter, I began to make the transition from one outpatient program to another one. I did the intake, and was informed that I could participate in two groups at the same time. One on Monday nights, the other on Tuesdays. The following week, my daughter and grandchildren were in town. The week after that, I went to the Monday night group, but not the Tuesday group. Since then, I have been dealt some health issues that have made it near impossible to get to group. Last night, I had intentions to go to group, but fell asleep in my rocking chair before I had to leave. So, this evening, I am getting the courage I need to go to group, and meet new people.
I have mixed emotions about going. Personally, I do not believe I need to be in a group as much as when I was discharged from inpatient rehab. However, I had not completed my IOP program at the other outpatient rehab. Plus, my psychotherapist believes I need to be in an outpatient program. Given that I can be a rebellious, resistant patient, I am trying to work against that aspect of my attitude and make myself more honest, openminded and willing to work with the professionals in my life, instead of fighting.
I hope I can post that things went well when I get home.
