As most of you know, CF suffered a major database crash 2 days ago.

We essentially lost 2 months worth of data.

As you may recall, we reached 1,000,000 posts 2 days ago. Well, we are now down back to 700,000 posts. We also have over 9,500 users - we are now back to 8,000.

My deepest apologies for this - it was partially my fault for trying to migrate the database to a different hard disk - I ended up corrupting the database and our recent backups.

We are basically back to our pre-server move state 2 days ago.

The good news is that we are back, and running the latest version of the forum software. This means an enhanced interface, and a lot of other great things.

The bad news is that we have lost a lot of data, and a lot of our special features.

The current color scheme is only temporary, so don't despair. :) We shall hopefully get our old system back. But that would take days.

Again, I am sorry for the long downtime and lost of data. Hopefully, we can get back to our pre-crash state, and hit the 1 million posts mark again. :)

Thank you for being patient.

Thanks Erwin for doing such a great job in getting the forums back up, even without the other features we still have a great community of users!

This should serve a reminder to all of us that Computers will do that. Don't take it for granted that your computer (or server) is crash free. It happens all the time. always back your data up an a separate spot (cd, another computer... )
Great job on getting it back up so quick Ewrin.

Well, never mind...Romans 8:28. I'm sorry it happened for your sake because I'm sure you already had enough to do, without adding 'fixing Christian Forums' added to your to do list.

That was nice of you to take off work to get it back online.

Erwin, we were very grieved to hear what had happened, you have my deepest sympathy, but I am positive that you will be back to where you were in no time flat. We had also just switched servers as you know, and boy that can be a harrowing experience. I am so sorry this happened.

Ain't that the truth :D I did a little work on a server at my last job. Also you can't forget backups for they hold you together through a crash. And hopefully the data that is saved doesn't go bad so having more then one backup is essential. Good thing Erwin had more then one

I am so used to the forum with the other look and feel that I will be so happy when Erwin gets it up and running :)

Great work in getting the server back up and running Erwin :D
