I've come to accept it that FF has alot of allusions and stuff that isn't particularly christian (not that i've had a problem with it)

but then again, what is a story without some sort of connection to some sort of aspect of society or nature, ya know? Like having a sort of false god somewhere in the game, or 'suggestive' names.
in some of my fan-fiction i've used names and ideas from mythlogical stories and figures, and i figure whoever writes the story for each final fantasy must somewhere do the same thing, and having that in the story doesn't really mean the game is trying to say something or suggest things abour religions.

I mean, my username is Yam Kimil (actually spelled kAmil), who is the mayan god of the underworld (i have a large interest in native american cultures) but that doesn't mean im trying to say Yam Kimil exists or that polytheism is the right path?....no

I hope this isn't too old, I just wanted to get in a slight response to this one post. I don't think FF has so much of an anti-god feeling to it as it has a message of liberation. If you recall, the final bosses in the games were rather oppressive or extremely destructive.

Well, a lot of atheists and agnostics like me see the Christian God, or the gods of almost all religions, as rather oppressive. If there is indeed an anti-god message here, it is probably one that associates gods with corruption.

Hey I just started playing Final Fantasy 2 on my Pocket pc using an emulator for snes :) It's pretty good.

That isn't FFII, it is FFIV. And from the sound of it, you got the mutilated version.

They also like to draw allusions to things they disagree with, as does everyone. It's a personal grudge sort of thing. For example, if you knew someone who you thought was trying to help you, but you found out later they were simply maninpulating you and actually stood for the exact opposite of what you believed, wouldn't it be pretty easy to see that person in Seymore (FF X)? Personally, I don't see any of the anti-christian symbolisms in any ff games I've played. Sure, I thought Sephiroth's final form looked like an angel, but he stood for so much the opposite of what an angel is, now that I think about it, it was more a blastphemy on his part than anything, and more the reason to kill him. But at the time, he was so unlike an angel in everything except for looks, the visual comparison really meant nothing to me.

btw, no offense intended to any atheist out there.
