Oh I love me some good jrpg's. Although it seems to me lately that they've not been as good, and/or have been obscured by rpg's like Mass Effect and Fallout.

yeah its a Nomura Square Enix game for the DS. i like it a lot. and ive never really played any of those kind of rpgs. i tend to stick with Square for all my rpg needs lol. but maybe i should expand my horizons. but like i said i really enjoyed XIII so maybe im just more of a jrpg person.

SE needs to stop loafing around and get on with kh3 already.
Hasn't it been like 5 years?
They're making spinoffs on every other console except ps3.

As for FF.
I'm quite excited about 13-2 coming out.
Although I don't know how I feel about Snow's new hair.
And the fact that Hope is 24.

But honestly, I really think that Versus and Agito should come out before XIII-2.
I mean, I'm not saying that I don't want XIII-2 to come out, it's just that the above two were announced at the same time as the original XIII.
Square seriously just pulled XIII-2 out of thin air with like 'LOL HEY GUYS XIII-2 IS COMING OUT IN 2012 AND VERSUS IS STILL TBA. WE HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED ON KH3. U MAD?'
I don't even know how to feel about that either. Square what are you doing.

Oh gosh. I bought XIV and I returned it immediately the next day. It was just so disappointing, words could not describe.
However I hear that XIII-2 will be less linear and will have a more clear story than the original. The battle system is also better judging from the trailers that I watched.
Lightning has also not aged.
I'm so confused with this time travel thing.

I don't know much about the story, but I love time travel- so hmmm.

As for XIV- I read that is currently FTP until it is reworked. Not sure if I would enjoy it enough for 30$ and free to play for the time being. As long as it doesn't turn out like X-2, I'm okay. Whew, I thought I'd like that one- but I'm an explorer. Why are they taking the world away from us for these tiny linear paths?

FF XIII disappointed me once I had finished it. (I enjoyed it while it was going, though I didn't care for the linearity.)

But FF Versus XIII looks pretty awesome. The gameplay looks more like a Kingdom Hearts game, with more realistic-looking graphics.

I will end up buying XIII-2...but I hope it's better than XIII.

I think after Versus XIII comes out, Kingdom Hearts 3 will be the next project. At least...I hope so. Right now, I'm too busy being upset that the next Kingdom Hearts game is on the 3DS, which I can't afford yet. Especially after the end of Birth by Sleep...I want to know what happens!

I'm looking forward to Versus also. Unpopular opinion but I honestly don't really like the protagonists' designs. Noctis and Stella look too... stereotypical you can say? But I really do like Shotgun Guy~

The only thing I can say about DDD is Riku what have they done to your hair.
I've never played BBS before. I've heard so many mixed reviews about it.

Birth by Sleep is actually my second favorite Kingdom Hearts game. (It's better than KH2, in my opinion.) The biggest minus is the fact that you are basically playing the same story three times, and while there are enough differences to keep you interested, too much plays out exactly the same. I absolutely love the combat system; I think it's the best yet.

But the best thing about it is the story and characters. You get a lot of backstory in this game, which casts new light upon the events of the first KH game. Also, there are a couple really great cameos from some familiar Kingdom Hearts characters which those who have played the other games will enjoy.

For a handheld game, it is terrific. The various worlds' environments are simplistic compared to the console KH games, but they get the job done.

My favorite Birth by Sleep character is probably Terra, and his story had the greatest emotional impact in my opinion. (But if you play the game, don't try and save the best for last. Play Terra's story first or the ending will be ruined for you.) Also, Leonard Nimoy's Xehanort is an awesome villain.

Anyway, if you've got a PSP and you like Kingdom Hearts, Birth by Sleep is a solid game and a great entry in the KH story.

I completely agree. Bbs is one if the best kh games. The story is amazing and the characters are good solid characters as well. I'm looking forward to ddd but I don't have a 3ds...

Ah. I will be sure to buy BBS once I find the time to play games... and more importantly, when I have money.

How is Aqua's story / style?
She seems very acrobatic and whatnot, but I've never liked magic users. X:
I'm more into the 'let's hack everything into oblivion' characters.

Aqua is okay.

When you first start the game, you use Terra, who is a powerful hack and slash type. Next you use Ventus, who is a whole lot faster than Terra, but not as powerful. Then, finally, you get Aqua. And it takes a bit of getting used to her style, which feels a little different from the others, but if you spend the time upgrading her skills, she's solid. Honestly, it took a bit of building her up for me to be comfortable with her. But the battle system is really just great for all of the characters, and Aqua is no exception.

And her final boss is the hardest fight in the game, in my opinion. (I had every one of her upgrades and this fight still took me several attempts to win.)

Plus, her story features one of my favorite moments in the game, and in the whole Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Y'know, I'll end up playing it, but I'm not too excited for XIII-2, either. I have been really disappointed by the most recent Final Fantasy games, especially when it comes to the characters and stories. So, right after they saved the world some weird Darkness/Time Travel thing grabbed Lightning and took her away to another world? This sounds awful, like a really bad anime sequel or something.

The next Final Fantasy game I'm actually excited about is Versus XIII. The trailers look pretty good for that, and I love how the world looks modern, rather than futuristic.

What I really want is for that new Studio Ghibli video game that recently came out in Japan to come out here in the U.S. as well. (Ni no Kuni)

And...still no sign of Kingdom Hearts 3... (sigh)

I hear that XIII-3 will most likely happen.
Jesus take the wheel.

And Lightning will barely appear in XIII-2.
That's really all I can say without inserting spoilers.

I'm actually not looking forward to vsXIII either.
The characters are not really appealing to me.
I think the only guy I remotely like in vsXIII so far is shotgun guy, who has a name now but I never really bothered to find out.

I just really want Type-0 to come out.
At least that game had a pretty solid storyline.

Also, I hear KH3 will be put in motion once 3D comes out.

I realized that something was seriously wrong when FFX-2 came out. FFX was lackluster enough already, and now they wanted to turn it into Charlie's Angels? I resolved to stop buying Square-Enix games, except for games set in the Ivalice universe, then and there.

But as time wore on and I played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, I realized that the damage had already been done. Tactics Advance had the right gameplay, but it was missing the story that required you to have a Ph.D. in history to understand. And why in the blue blazes did moogles look like mutant rabbits? And what in the name of Cloud Strife were the dog-lizards?

So I stopped playing Square Enix games for a while. And really, that meant that my make-or-break game series was MGS, and I really didn't want to fork over the money for a PS3 at the time. So games just dropped off my radar.

Then my parents got me an Xbox 360, and I found out FFXIII was being released on it. I flirted with the idea of playing it for a while, then finally gave in. And while it wasn't as bad as people were saying, it didn't just floor me like Square games did up until they went to PS2.

Then I found out the missing key to the mystery of why Square-Enix is good but not great: It occurred to me that I had not seen Sakaguchi's name in the credits of Square-Enix games for some time, and then I learned about Mistwalker and Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

I had been planning on getting XIII-2, because I thought, "Hey, I should just learn to like this newfangled stuff the kids are drooling over these days." But ever since I started playing Mistwalker's games... I can't be sure whether Sakaguchi left because the games started to decrease in quality or the games started to decrease in quality because Sakaguchi left. But I know this: I'm considering getting a Wii just so I can play The Last Story. Toriyama will kill the JRPG if nobody helps Sakaguchi resurrect it.

Love the FF series, but it has really gone down the toilet in the last few years, especially that garbage they called 13.

In order of best to worst:

7
4
9

10
3
1
12
8
2
13

Awww I really liked 13 as a game. Maybe not as a numbered ff but as a stand alone series I reaally like it
