• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

For 40 days he was tempted by the devil (in the wilderness).

The devil was allowed by the Father of Jesus to search Jesus and tempt Jesus in any way he could. Temptation is like a hook. If there is any darkness in me, the devil can latch the hook on my darkness. Jesus had no darkness in him.

The devil departed from him.

Our strength to fight the temptation to cut comes from this Jesus. When we are in him, the devil cannot hook his temptation on us and make us fall.

Where is this Jesus then? The Bible says he is risen and sits on the right side of God. Should we go up to the heaven to find him?

The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Jesus is the spirit, and his words are his spirit. We don’t need to search for Jesus, for his words are his spirit. Reading his words, thinking about his words, and praying about his words is to be in him. Once we are in him, the Devil cannot make us fall into his temptation.

Dear Rupert, why does it seem so hard to get in Jesus, sometimes. I try and try and then I go and I fail again. I fail and fail and I never seem to get it right. I am so stupid. I can't believe the sin that I do... Over and over again. I just feel so worthless and everything... God loves us, He cares for us, He will never desert us. I love Him... why can't I stop? Lily00:(

Slow down my dear sister.:) One step at a time, one devotion at a time, 5 minutes of Bible reading and praying at a time. But, slowly, these will add up, and one day you will notice there has been a change within you.

Say you have a house guest. When you invited him into your house, you didn't know he was such an obnoxious fellow. Now you want him out. When he says no to your request to leave, will you give up and sit back? No, you won't. You will be tenacious and persistent. Only then, the guest will leave.

The urge to cut is like the house guest that you invited in, not knowing how disdainful a fellow he was. Don't give up when he says no. Be persistent.

I wish we had many friends who would pray for us, fast for us, and weep for us to Christ Jesus. Then our recovery would be speedy. Let us not give up. We need to be more tenacious than the obnoxious house guest.

LOL. I like that analogy Rupert. I did fight the temptation, and though He hasn't left yet, I can at least make him behave for a little bit. Any friend of satan is not a friend of mine, so I just want it to pack up and leave... it hurts. I just want it all to go away but then I fail and it just gets me so frustrated sometimes... I just don't want to lay down and stop fighting though... I just don't think that seems like the right way out. Thanks for your encouragement though. I will pray for you. Best Wishes.
