• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know how to take this anymore. Valium doesn't work. Klonopin doesn't work and just letting the anxiety sit there makes seconds feel like minutes. I wish I could overcome this by sheer reasoning but I know how OCD feed off the answer's you give it. IDK what to do anymore except just allow myself to suffer.

I actually wasn't fighting at all. I accepted the anxiety and inturn the thoughts got smaller and smaller. It's no easy task to do ERP but in the long run you will reap the benifits of doing this skill. See I acknoledge. That yes my OCD myabe true but I don't go off asking for reassurnece and seeking answers by gooling it. I have goole. The accepting the anxiety part and OCD Online.com gives a weel description of how you supposed to treat these thoughts

Dabro,
You really need to see if you can find a good Dr. who can act like a coach in teaching you to do ERP. Yes, sitting with the thoughts and not attending to them will increase your anxiety and feels like torture but the longer you can tolerate it the better. It's probably a good idea for you to approach ERP in baby steps. This means doing it for short periods and increasing those periods gradually. Don't push yourself so hard, just work at it gradually and accept the fact that it took a long time to get this bad and it will take a long time to get better also. Another thing is that the disorder tends to wax and wane so hold on to the idea that you can and will feel better after going through a very rough patch. Keep on looking for a good therapist. I'll pray for you to that end. Stay in touch...OK?
