  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is my boyfriend's favorite movie...and I just don't get it. I think it's HIGHLY over rated..not to mention it was totally predictable. It wasn't a work of genieus and the plot wasn't that great...I just don't understand.:o

I didn't care too much for the movie either, though there were interesting or humerous parts. Though, from what I hear, it was one of the first, if not THE first book/movie to involve such a psychological twist to it. Still, I likely won't ever see it again. I'm sorry to you gals who have boyfriends to make them watch it over and over =P

It was predictable that the two main characters were the same person?
Yes, the movie may be highly overrated, but I think what attacts people to the movie is the underlying nihilistic philosophy of it all. From what I understand, people like the movie because they can identify themselves with it.

Who doesnt like hamburgers?

People on a diet?

I like Fight Club, but I'm a nihilist at heart, so it appeals to me.

Also, it has The Pixies. I like The Pixies.

And Helena Bonham Carter rules.

As much as I'd love to stalk elk around the ruins of the Rockefeller center, this "Tyler" character is nothing more than a nihilistic false messiah, promising to free humans by emancipating them from God and from hope. Pseudo-intellectual rhetoric filled with childish revolutionary fantasies.

I think that was the point. Nihilism generally knows it's nihilism.
