FIFA Women's World Cup: U.S. Wins Record Fourth Straight World Cup Title
The United States women’s soccer team claimed its fourth straight Women’s World Cup title on Sunday, beating a valiant Netherlands team. 2-0, in Lyon, France, to repeat as world champions.

Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle scored second-half goals for the United States, who needed more than an hour to solve a tenacious defensive effort by the Netherlands. Rapinoe broke the dam with a penalty kick in the 61st minute, and Lavelle sealed the victory with a driving run up the center in the 69th.

It looks like another team won't be visiting the White House. :D

What a game that was. Both teams really played their hearts out but the US definitely earned their victory. These girls make me proud to be an American!

Since a LGBT woman leads the team, I wouldn't let them in.

Is that the threshold for being admitted to the White House now? Everything that Trump, his staff, friends, family, and cabinet members have done is all okay, but being gay is just a bridge too far?

Its the only reason the team is suddenly cared about now.

lol wut?

Isn't it the most popular sport in the world, and pretty popular among young people? I would think that might figure in.

And the fact that the US is completely dominant.

I’ve heard arguments that at least some of this dominance owes to the fact that women’s sports in the US get better funding due to Title IX protections than do women’s sports in other countries.

It wasn't until recently that suddenly american news reported about the US womans team. Which happened to be when the LGBT leader kissed her girlfriend on the field. Before that I never seen the team talked about in the news. Not even brought up. Never heard about them online or anything. And by all this I am referring to the USA.

If you are a soccer fan then of course you probably know of them. But to most the team was never really talked about. I even noticed the atheist type sites never talked about the team until that lady become the center of attention.

I don't follow soccer at all and know offhand that the US women's team has won like 4 world cups and did extremely well at the Olympics . They absolutely have been in the news and public consciousness before now. Mia hamm was all over the place in her day- commercials, wheaties boxes, media galore. When I was growing up one of them ripped off her team shirt she was so excited by the win and her black Nike bra became a classic and iconic symbol of women's soccer (Brandi Chastain?). And I'm pretty sure I remember one or several of the women's team over the years being outspoken Christians and leading the team in prayer, etc.... (the girl with the big hair; forget her name).

I don't care for soccer, but Mia Hamm was who I thought of as well. That was the first time I remember hearing about the women's team.

i think you should stop honestly.
you're just making a fool of yourself.
the usw team has been in the news going back over the decades.
do the names mia hamm or brandi chastain mean nothing to you? and those are only recent examples.
if so then all it means is that you don't a) watch the news, or b) have lived under a rock for a long time and are now crawling out from under it to subject the rest of us to your underrock living ignorance... either that or you are trying to build an troll argument based off of a blatant lie.

How old are you? 18? 20? They were winning championships when I was in high school and I’m pushing 40.

I'm near 40. I'm online all the time and at home since I am disabled. In all my years I never heard much talk about the team. Or if I did it wasn't as talked about until the LGBT stuff was involved. To be fair I never liked soccer so I honestly maybe never paid attention to any stories of it. None the less there is no denying liberals seem to talk about the team constantly now because of the leader.

Yes, there is plenty of denying it. I've heard much less about them this time around than I have in past years. Your perception is not accurate.

Outside of the world cup and the olympics, pro soccer isn't very popular in the US. Each of those tournaments only happen for a few weeks, once every 4 years. The women's tournaments have only been around since the 90's, and the American women have dominated the entire time.

I don't know where you get your information from, but the US Women's Soccer team has been at the forefront for decades. They have gotten a lot of attention because they've won many championships and have been one of the most dominant teams in the world. Perhaps you only watch Fox News and are only aware of the team now because they focus on the team now because they want to scare their viewers about gay people.

The only reason the team is cared about by the US public is because they win.

Americans love the underdog, but only when he wins in the end.

That is 100% due to your own personal obsession with being upset about the gays. This team is and has been 1st rank in the world for some time.
They had the ,"controversy" at the start of the tourney which got them some focus.

If you are christian and not upset about LGBT then you need to read your bible.
