• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Its inflammation of the cartilage where the ribs connect to the breast bone. It feels like your having a heart attack, the pain is severe and mine bores into my back. You can get Costochrondritis from several different causes, but when connected to FM can become chronic. If associated with FM they think it may be related to the trigger points in the chest.

Yup, I've got that... been to emerge a couple of times thinking I was having a heart attack. It really hurts!

never knew that was a separate condition from fibro actually, i always just figured that was just another trigger point i had developed.

but yeah that sounds like what i've been getting for a few years now. The first time it happened i was still in the diagnosis process and figuring everything out about my health and really wondered if i might be having a heart attack because it was just so painful.

i don't usually get it quite that bad now, thankfully, (or maybe because i can relate it to my fibro now it doesn't freak me out as bad :p)but it still happens and i get that thing where it goes right into my back. its strange actually how the exact spot on my chest is the exact spot on my back thats sore, almost as if a knife is being pushed through my body, heh.

Ugh, please tell me I'm not the only man with Fibro on this forum!

I have gone as far as gone to the ER, eating nitro, had stress tests run and then found out apparentley it was fibro, aggravating isn't it? One day I hope they find a cure.

Wow! I did not know there was a technical name for that. I get that all the time...and it lays me up. I've been to ER's thinking I'm having a heart attack...they always tell me its anxiety. -Which i do get (anxiety)....but when my fibro hits me ....my ribs hurt so bad...hurts to breathe....hurts if my hubby jokingly pokes me in the ribs (he knows better now). I get many many fibro symptoms...but this one is the most painful for me, and the scariest.
