  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

that remake that you're talking about was actually just a comparison.

They were showing the difference in graphics, as in, "How much better PS3 looks than PS or PS2."

Square-Enix, sadly, announced that they were not planning on remaking Final Fantasy VII.

I'm more curious about the Secret Ending in Dirge of Cerberus...

well.....I saw a trailor of a remake of FFVII and it looks really awsome. Dirge of Cerberus was good altho....i didnt get very far....heh.....im getting better tho. Me and gun games dont usually mix (u can tell by watching me play halo2....lol)
That was not a trailer for a remake of FFVII you saw. That was a tech demo shown at E3 a year or two back to hype people up for the PS3, but they never said anything about remaking FFVII. As far as I know they did that simply to wow the crowd.

Don't be surprised that by next Tokyo Game Show, they show the FFVII PS3 remake as halfway to nearly complete.
Forgive me for questioning, but what do you mean exactly?
I found a quote from SE stating that VII will not be remade. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a remake despite the original's greatness... but I was under the impression that they were not going to?

Or were you just stating that it's still a 'possibility'?

There's been multiple statements from magazines and other SE peoples that its possible or that its already in development.

Also take this into consideration. They're putting new skin on the game. On top of that, from what I gather so far, using the FFXII battle engine. Talk about HAWT! Other than that, that's it.

I dunno. President Wada stated it would take 3 to 5 years to do it. I think its a lot less.

Hmmm, well where I'm all for a new verstion of FFVII, I'm not for a new battle system.
I love FF for the story-line, AND the gameplay... when the gameplay becomes something other than what was originally given to us; a strategic, turn based battle system, I'll play the game, but it just won't be the same.
This is pretty much the reason why FFXII will be my 'farewell' to the FF series... but not my 'farewell' to fun games that call themselves "Final Fantasy".

I remember gettins so wrapped up in FF's of old for hours and hours, until I beat the game. But now it's just a game where I can pick it up and play for a time burner.
I said the same for X-2, and I'll say the same for DOC, and possibly XII and the new VII... it's a great game, but not a great FF game.

VI is my fav - and still the best overall game I've ever played. Best soundtrack, plenty of characters - each of which had a well-developed and emotional story behind them, great villain (Sephiroth was a "cool" villain. But Kefka was just EVIL. By the end of the game you couldn't wait to beat the snot outta him), long and varied story, variety of gameplay (the Opera theme still makes me sniffle), and so on.

Hey, we agree!

People who oogle over FFVII probably haven't played VII (or IV, for that matter).
