3 Things I will tell you:
1. You CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT go by just the letter rating. You should look on the back of the game to see what it really contains. Often times what they say on the back is a tiny bit hyperbolic too. Games that are rated E will have "Violence" on the back of them sometimes, but it doesn't mean they are a Resident-Evilish game.

2. Depending on how hard-core fundie you are, there is either nothing wrong, or there is a lot wrong. If you are "MAGIC IS BAAAAAAAAAAAD (Even if it is some lines of program code)!!!!!!!!!!" then no, you don't want this game. But if you're fairly normal you should have no problem. The violence is no worse than any other Final Fantasy.

3. The gameplay itself is rather interesting. I just started playing it today. It truely is designed for multiplayer though, so if you're gonna play it by yourself, it may not be the best investment.

Is it even possible to do multiplayer without the GBA?
No. The way they have the gameplay designed, it is necessary. The menus from all 4 people would take up too much of the screen, and the action gets quite.. actiony.

Also, is there any way to hook up a GBA SP with a power supply AND a GameCube link cable at the same time?
Not sure. Don't think so though. The AC adapter plugs into the top right?

It would have to be some kind of special adapter which plugged into both sockets. You'd think it could be done, though.
Given a little time and at least two or more companies (probably Nyko and Interact among others) will have a device that allows you to plug both devices in your GBA SP.
