  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am 9 weeks today and the Dr was unable to pick up a heartbeat. Just curious how far along any of you were when you heard yours. I am a bit anxious, my sonogram is two weeks away. My last pregnancy at 8 weeks we found out I had a blighted ovum (the baby never formed just the placenta and sac were visible on sonogram):(
I was so hoping today my mind would be put at rest:sigh:

I had a yucky scare this pg. Previously I had heard it at 9weeks, but this time dr couldn't find it. He said its normal and I knew it was early so we waited four weeks until my next appt. I was sure by 13 weeks, we'd find it. But we didn't! Dr said it was cuz his doppler was old and not to worry. Not to worry??? It was like 2 days before Christmas and I was so upset. I called my obgyn and they got me a u/s scan right away. There was my little bean, moving around and heart pumping away! Phew!
I will say a prayer for you, but take heart, it really IS very early at nine weeks to hear it, especially since dopplers may be different and in different shape!
Hugs!

They didn't even try to find mine until i was 18 weeks for the very reason that you can't always pick it up.
When i had my scan at just over 12 weeks they said they could see it but i couldn't.

From what i've heard it's unusual to hear it as early as 9 weeks.

They heard mine around 11 or 12 weeks, then at 13 weeks, I fainted and went to the doctor, and they couldn't find it! DH and I were freaking out until they scheduled us an ultrasound that showed her perfectly healthy! My doctor told me they are still so small at that point, and sometimes finding the heartbeat can be hit and miss because they might be moving around too much. (Like mine was!) :) I'll be praying that your next appointment will reveal a strong, healthy heartbeat!

I heard mine at 9.5 weeks, but the doc said it would be normal and OK if we hadn't heard it.

9 weeks would be early to hear it. With my daughter we heard it at 10.5 weeks and with my son we couldn't hear it until 12 weeks.

12 weeks...

I saw mine at ten weeks, they had to do an U/S cause I was concerned I had miscarried. They said it was too early to hear it, though.
 I really appreciate all the responses here, thank you all for helping to ease my mind a bit until my US

They also didn't even try until about 16wks with me, because not being able to find it when it's very early is more stressful than just waiting! My appointment yesterday at 28weeks they had trouble finding it cos bubs was wrigling and hiding behind the placenta!!
I had had an ultrasound at 13wks due to bleeding and saw my baby happy as larry bouncing all around! If you're really stressing then I would get an ultrasound but 9weeks is VERY early to hear a heartbeat!
