The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) is an excellent denomination, which allows women clergy and would allow you to continue in your Lutheran tradition. It might be worth looking into if you don't mind some of their other theological differences with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). In general, the ELCA is more moderate, with open communion and so forth.

That is awesome the Anglican/Episcopalian churches have women clergy. I believe that is the way it should be, after doing some study on this topic.

Just call me The Disgruntled Lutheran (LCMS). :help:

My parish priest was raised LCMS. Her dad is even a minister. Now she's and episcopal priest and so is her husband - a former RC.;)

My fiance was raised WELS (even more strict than LCMS) - he seems happy in the EC.

I don't agree with the ELCA at all. They are in the midst of a schism (in my view)... and just too much dissention for me. Also, I cannot handle the contemporary, loud heavy metal band services anymore in the LCMS church that I'm currently a member of. I have not attended church in over a year...though that was partly due to some health issues on my part. Now, I'm looking around to see if something else would be a better church for me.

Well, not to knock your current church, but why stay if you're disgruntled?

There certainly are good people there, and for that reason alone I have stayed there for now. I probably will leave it, unless some drastic changes occur to convince me to stay!
