I hope to assemble some of my poems, prayers or text in this thread during my time on this board. Any constructive criticism is always welcome!


To start: a short poem or text I made, when I was pondering days about what it was to 'truely be a lady'. I have been blessed with knowing a few of the wonderful women to who this short text truely applies.



Be soft of voice
and gentle of bearing
Be kind of heart
and tender of hands
Be bright as the morn
and still as the evening
Within you they'll find
Gods love reborn.

*smiles at WD* Thank you. It's ment to be sung indeed. Though I still don't know if I came up with the melody or if it's something that I heard somewhere. And yes... I will share more in time. I'm slow with poetry.. but I have a few poems still.

Thank you, shrty4christ! I mostly try to use simple words, because well... if you have to disguise feelings with complicated tricks, you often stray from what you want to say.

Thank you so much Prayerwarrior. I recently changed computers, and now I can't find the document in which I saved my poems anymore. *L* I will unearth them again though!

Writing poetry when someone else sets the theme is always difficult. Still... this is one of my personal favorites among the poems I've made.

The theme given was:

"Growing old too young"


fourteen she must have been.
dirty jeans
hair locked away in greasy ponytail
Mind locked away in latest hit.

No one understood her, she said.
Her father an idiot who didn’t know
She was old enough to go
wherever she wanted.

I listened, hands folded
sixteen
And felt old of her tale
held her while she wept
and heard Prokoviev
through her tears.​

This one has been called many different things by different persons. Some call it a prayer... some a 'comforting reassurance from God' and some call it a poem of love. Is it one of those? Is it all three? You decide for yourself

Touching my face
The end of the road
Answers

Look above You
The stars reflect my eyes
The wind billows my voice
The water sprinkles my eyes
I am here
I am always

Within You I am
Around You, I am
I am I, I am You

Look around You, there I am
Look at Your face in the mirror, there I am
If You reach out, You feel my body
If You trust Your dreams, You will find My soul

Thank you very much. It's sometimes hard to write poetry in a language that's not your own. Some of the poems are translations of my original work in Dutch, others are originally in English.
