I am having a low time in my faith for God and struggling with the feelings that are coming from it. I joined these forums to read and hopefully be inspired to keep trusting and believing God. Right now it seems that God is letting the devil put me through trials because he wants something to change in my life, and I want to change, but this change is putting stress on me and I feel alienated and alone. I took a moment to stop and pray to God and just focus on giving him everything that I am struggling with and vocalizing that I want to believe in him, and prayed for clarity, but I am having trouble deciding what is God working in me and what is myself convincing me it is God.

I prayed for clarity and conviction towards a certain direction and my tears stopped and I began to feel calmer but I am still full of anxiety and feel like it is making me rationalize what I want and I want only what God has planned for me.
So I guess long story short, how do I know what is God's desire and the difference between that and my desires.

Ahh, the desert... I myself have been in the desert many times, and normally it was for a great growth spurt.

I can offer two pieces of advice for you during your desert times:
1. KEEP SEEKING! The Word says that we are to wait upon the Lord. However, this doesn't mean that we sit back on our haunches doing nothing. While we "wait" we are to actively pursue God, to seek His will. So keep moving, keep looking, and keep praying!
2. PRAY PRAY PRAY! Ask God not to pull you out of the desert, but to show you what He wants you to see. Ask others to enter into intercessory prayer with you. Having others pray with you during this quiet time is an extremely powerful experience.

Rejoice in being in the desert, something great is about to happen!

This is great advice! The Bible says that if we seek that we will find. Prayer is critical during times such as these. It is in the times in the desert that we realize our need for God the most and depend on Him the fullest. When the enemy bombards you tell him to leave you alone in the name of Jesus Christ. As a child of God, You're Heavenly father is always taking care of you and will never leave you nor forsake you. No one messes with a child of God. Not even all the powers of evil can overtake you when you are standing in Jesus Christ!

Stay strong my sister! Seek God in this time of trial. You will be glad that you did!

my advice is to always remember this: THOSE WHO DO RIGHT DO IT EVEN UNDER DURESS!

you may be tempted to do something wrong, and have reasons for doing it. trust me, there is NO reason to do what is wrong.

in your heart, you will know what is right(at this point) not only that, but you are aware of the commands of God. those are the most important thing ever to you at this point! what did Jesus do when Satan tempted him? he reverted back to the commands of God and said "I must not break these". as long as you don't break Gods commands, you will leave the desert intact and stronger then ever.

Thank you all for your support and encouraging words, the thing that I had feared happened today. (My boyfriend of a year broke up with me today, because I asked him to step out in faith and he wasn't willing to have a relationship with God, and thus couldn't have one with me.) My church has been supportive today and is promising to keep me accountable, now I just need to get through this and heal and not just harden my heart and hide myself in armor.
