• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Feeling down?

Well, for my wife - a nice bottle of wine & some flowers usually will help. But - just sitting and listening to her "get it all out" usually helps.

My husband is going through troubles and stress at work right now too. When he gets down, I try to shower love on him. I remind him of how proud I am of him, and what a good team we are together. I tell him I'll support him no matter what. I remind him what a wonderful husband he is to me, so he can continue to feel proud of his accomplishments, particularly in our marriage. I tell him that even if the worst happened and he got laid off, we'd get through it - together. I let him know I'm praying for him, and encourage him to pray as well.

In a nutshell, I just try to be as supportive of him as possible, and I try to boost his self-esteem as much as possible, by letting him know how much I love him and how proud I am of him.

I can relate to you suzy as my hubby is currently under alot of stress at work too and working very long days. I have been trying to have the house clean, dinner (something he really likes) ready, and just listen as he tells me about his day- even if I don't understand alot of it. I just let him know I am praying for him (and I do it) every day, and I let him know how much he means to me and how much I appreciate him! I think these things help to just deal with the pure yuckiness of his job right now.

I try to relax him by making his favourite meals, let him go take a nap and support him and remind him of how blessed we really are and how much I appreciate what he's doing for us. I'll even go out on a limb and tell him to buy a DVD that he's been wanting for a long time and watch it with him...even if I don't like it.

I give him unlimited venting time, bolster his self esteem by telling him all the wonderful things I see in him (I do this anyway but am more deliberate about it if he's down) and just plain pamper him like crazy. I also let him know that I am praying for him, and we pray together as well.

Well, I know for a straight up fact what my hubby's number one answer would be...lol, but I don't think it's befitting of an ex-mod who knows the rules to post it. But come on...ya ALL know what it is. ;) Seriously, that's what my hubby would say. Yeah, he likes all the other stuff, cleaning, cooking, back rub, etc...but when it comes to stress relief, he'd take, ummm, ya know *wink wink*, in a red hot second. And if I was really going for brownie points, I've have a nice little snack ready for afterwards.

Maybe I'm just married to a caveman...but I love him.
