ive heard it said that a true Christian will never fully doubt, a sin never backsliding to the point of being an atheist or other religion follower. Does this mean I was never saved before I backslide? And can I be saved now? Is eternal life conditional on 100% of the time faith?

I don't believe that at all..anyone can fall away, even if they were saved at one point, so no, it doesn't mean that at all as far as I'm concerned.

Of course you can be saved now, just get back on track, repent, and ask for forgiveness if you mess up, then move on. Actually unless you fell away to the point you just didn't care anymore and you were up to making it a habit of sinning, but instead you just sinned a bit here and there and you were asking for forgiveness all along, I'm not even sure you ever fell away. Still it is good we question ourselves, and you know better than what happened.

OK, I now see you implied you had become atheist, and that'll probably get you unsaved.

We are told to forgive 7x70 or IOW, a lot. If that is what God tells us to do, how much more is he going to practice what he preaches.

When Jesus Christ died on the Cross, He shed His blood for the forgiveness of your sins. If you have repented and placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, all of your sins — past, present, and future — are nailed to that tree (Colossians 2:14). That is the gospel, no more and no less.

Strictly defined, the gospel is this: Jesus died for sinners. But the effects of the gospel are far reaching. The effects of the work of Jesus on the Cross include:

z We are declared innocent (Colossians 1:14).

z We are brought near to God (Ephesians 2:13).

z We are adopted into God’s family (Romans 8:14–17).

z We have peace with God (Colossians 1:20).

z We have everlasting life (John 3:16).

z We have a cleansed conscience (Hebrews 9:14).

z We can live an abundant life (John 10:10).

z We are made heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).

z We have an inheritance (1 Peter 1:3–4).

z We are made saints (Romans 1:7).

One of the amazing effects of the gospel is sanctification (Hebrews 13:20– 21). God makes us progressively more holy. God is willing to give you more and more power to overcome your anxiety. God delights in fixing His broken children.

That is OSAS, or once saved always saved theology, it means you can do whatever you want and still go to heaven, but you Deerglow, already know that isn't a fact or you wouldn't be here now.

I won't argue the point because it's been done to death around here but just a warning not to buy into the easy way some preach.

I've seen even the most devout of Christians backslide into complete atheism. You're never going to meet 'the perfect' Christian, but you will often meet perfectly complacent ones. It's a form of arrogance really.

The key is to just not become complacent. I never start or finish a prayer these days - I've just kept one long continuous prayer rolling for about a year now. It's all about consistency; it's not about being 'good' all of the time.

I'm worried that it's either OSAS or Twice Lost Always Lost. I think you even said earlier that could get you unsaved. I really hope im not condemned but I'm afraid

Why would you think you would be condemned? Remember the Prodigal son, he was allowed back in, and welcomed with open arms...why not you?

I experienced the new birth in a most dramatic way through the Assemblies of God, then experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues 3 days later. The AOG do not believe in once saved, always saved. However, I do not consider myself an AOG believer after walking with Christ for the last 30 years.

Indeed, as I consider my past, I am convinced that the new birth occurred to me when I was 5 years old. I was raised in an atheist family whose only "church" experience was a brief period of Unitarianism. My next door neighbor friend, Patrick McGuire, a good Irish Catholic child, was the only contact with Christianity that I had. I asked him who Jesus was and he told me he was God. As a child it seemed absurd that a man could be God, nonetheless, I cried out to him to save me. Years later, around the age of 10, I spontaneously spoke in tongues.

The reason I share this is because I never went to church, nor did I know that Jesus was God until my clear new birth experience at the age 32. Yet in hindsight I can see the multitude of times that the hand of God was upon me.

30 years later, having visited many different denominations, and studied church history and doctrines, I lean more in the "once saved always saved" camp. I still believe someone who tasted the new birth and the presence of Christ can have their heart harden to a point where they become fully deceived into believing that Satan is god and God is the devil. But this is rare. This seems to happen through a serious emotional injury where God is blamed for that injury. This almost happened to me, but I knew in my heart that God is not the author of any evil, and was able to regain my right perspective.

I have seen that the grace of God through Jesus Christ is truly an Amazing Grace indeed.

Not really OSAS. He will forgive you of your sins that you will commit even as saved. You just have to ask Him.
It's not an automatic thing.

We are human, we will make mistakes. When we do, we repent of those mistakes.

Because you are Born Again, doesn't change the fact that we are human. Yes, God will change your mind through His Word. Yes, you will not want to sin. But we are told, those who say they have no sin, are liars and make Christ out to be a liar.

1 John 1:8–10. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Yet no one is saying or even implying they have no sin, and I'm not even certain why you bring that up except that it's a favorite of OSAS'rs.

When you say all sins are forgiven past present and future, that kinda it OSAS.

Yeah, it does sound like it, but it isn't. I'm Pentecostal.
Need to rephrase that. "All sins are forgiven past, those you commit in the present and in the future."

I follow this.

The scripture say we are Justified by faith. Other words, our sins are cleansed from the day we repent to the first one we ever committed.

It also tells us that He will keep us and that nothing can separate us. That He can preserve us.

It also tells us that we can walk away from the faith.

All three are true.
neither contradict each other.
Because He is God, there is nothing Is impossible for Him.
Because we are fallen, sinful, men and Christ died yet while we were in sin.
Therefore I will stick to God's word, knowing that I am Born Again and that one day soon, will be with Him.

The Gospel is the same, be assured of your salvation, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is what I meant toward DeerGlow.

Not Doctrine of any church.

DeerGlow,
It's okay to doubt, to a point. We all do it. That's when we are to turn To Christ and put our trust in Him. Not in ourselves or doctrines of men.
If you are fully living in sin, If you live your life the way of the World and are not doing those things which are holy. Then you may not be saved.
If you are a Child of God and you do sin, Then go to God, repent of the sin, trusting the the Advocate will forgive you of that sin. Ask God to help you not to do it again, to sanctify you, more. Because sanctification isn't a one time thing, it's progressive. We go through things in life, that God allows to happen and when we put our trust in Him to get us through it, we are sanctified from that. God's righteousness grows within us.

Turn to the Gospel. Remind yourself of what God did for you and why you came to Him. Not out of fear of Hell, but Because He loved you first. That it's His will for you to be saved.

But DeerGlow, if you are living in sin. Have broke God's commandments and have not repented, trusted Christ, read your bible and pray. Finding a good church to worship and fellowship with those of like mind and heart. Then repent. He'll forgive you. Keep the faith.

Well if one backslide meant we were never really saved then not a single Christian on here would be going to heaven. Because we at some point will ALL have backsliding moments. Whether it be an addiction. Or anger after some tragic event... it happens to us all. Even the bible talks about it many times. Look at Peter. He "backslid" and denied Jesus three times in one night! And yet he was saved.

Now do I believe in the once saved, always saved? I used to. But I started to see holes in it. For example what if you become a satanist? Obviously God would not let you in heaven. I do believe though since our sins are paid for when we mess up and we pray for forgiveness, he forgives. And I do believe until they day we die we will mess up at times and still get into heaven. BUT only if we truly were trying hard not to mess up. Someone I know loves porn and is a christian. They will pray sometimes for forgiveness. But they believe they still go to heaven because they are a christian. Mind you this person pretty much does what the world does. No church, no bible, no nothing.

Obviously I can't assume hes not going to heaven, only God can judge that. But going by what I see I do not believe he will. Of course I pray he sees the error in his way and fixes it. Me? I've looked at porn and but I work hard and staying away from that sin. Which I know God wants to see me working to avoid it. Not making an excuse for it and looking.

I'm worried that it's either OSAS or Twice Lost Always Lost. I think you even said earlier that could get you unsaved. I really hope im not condemned but I'm afraid

That would come from the face value of said verse:

Hebrews 6:4-7New International Version (NIV)

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen[a] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

So ask yourself

1. Did I taste the gift (that is, were you assured of salvation)?
2. Did I share in the Holy Spirit (that is, you yourself were no longer under the hold of sin, but under the Spirit)?
3. Did I experience first hand the power of God's work of salvation within myself?
4. Did I repent of my sins before any of this?

If the answer is no to any of these, I would (for myself personally) question (as you are) the actual Christian state or lack thereof I was in.

A lot of people think they are Christians, but are far from it.

I became a Christian at such a young age I can hardly remember it and i know some people say if you don't remember it wasn't enough or a four year old wouldn't really understand enough to be saved. I know I believed, I had faith as a kid, though I was pretty sinful sometimes, the things God has done for me I'm sure I was saved my fear is losing that salvation. That on judgement day He will say "You wicked thing get away from Me." And send me to hell. It is a very real fear that makes me spontaneously cold or hot, makes me literally shake (as in panic/anxiety attacks), I switch between hysterical fear of death and suicidal thoughts and I'm so ready to cry but if my doubting and sinning cannot be forgiven then enough tears to drown the world couldn't save me. But yet sometimes I think my fate must be sealed, the way I've lived I've either been rejected already or can't do any worse sins and I sin A LOT during those times. I don't want to be rejected and sent to hell.

God will forgive you sins...period...if you repent of them.
Then when He does, live you life as Christ would. Deny yourself, place your Trust in HIm, read your bible, pray and find a church.

Agreed. Romans 9 tells us that we are all, saved and damned alike, created for a purpose. I don't think I have any control over what God has purposed me for, as that purpose has always been eternally decided by Him.

Here's my hope of all hopes...that the Promise in Ezekiel 11 & 36 can STILL be possible for you and for me.

ALL sin was forgiven when Jesus shed His blood on the Cross. In Heb. it says that there is no forgiving of sin without the shedding of blood. It also says that there will be no more shedding of blood for sin. It also says that Jesus will die no more.
If that is not enough evidence that ALL the sins of the world have been forgiven, then you need to read the words of Jesus. He said that He was sent to do two things, forgive the sins of the world, and fulfill the Law and the Prophets. When He died on the Cross, He said "it is finished." So ALL the sins of the world are forgiven, Past, Present, and Future.
So, explain to me why you ask God to forgive you of your sins. Is there instructions in the Scripture where we are commanded to ask God to forgive us, or is this something that our Church forefathers started that sounded good from the pulpit? It is doctrines and traditions of man, much like a lot of other things that is taught from the pulpit. Our sins have been forgiven for a long time, and will be forgiven forever.

Are you preaching universalism here? Sure sounds like it....

And here's the scripture on repentance post resurrection, since you asked for it:

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

Acts 8:22
Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.

Acts 11:18
When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

Acts 17:30
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Acts 20:21
I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

Romans 2:4
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Revelation 2:5
Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
