  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fear is a curse and a blight. It is an attack from Satan. There are many scriptures about fear that are good to memorise. "I sought the Lord and He heard my voice and delivered me from all my fears" is one. "perfect love casts out fear", "God has not given us a spirit of fear" are others. You have may taken on an evil spirit of fear. You can cast it out, if you know your authority in Christ.

Thanks yes i know the scriptures on fear but as humans we fear especially if weve had trauma so its not always that easy
Lord Jesus came to set the captives free. I appreciate that it's not easy, but all things are possible with God. I had a fear of electricity because I had 3 severe shocks. Lord Jesus set me free and I refused to give into the fear. Since it was part of my job to deal with high voltage, I could not afford to give into it.

 PTSD is real. A lot of experiences are hard to erase from our minds. You're right --- it's not always that easy. Thank God often for His protection. I have experiences that come to mind now and then and I wish they would go away.

If you were in my family, I would tell you to buy a gun, and take a handgun course for women. While any course might do, there are many courses taught around the USA specifically geared for women. Some might think that is extreme, but it should help you deal with your fear. Hanging around other people who have overcome this fear and having something in your toolbox that is practical to deal with it, should it ever rise up again will help you. Granted such a defense is not a replacement for God and letting the scriptures work through you, but it is a practical method that will yield results. I am not saying you need to carry a concealed weapon at all times but if you can use a gun and have it handy during anytime where you think you might be in danger it should offer you some level of relief. Other ideas might be to see if you can help with a jail ministry or something similar where you can be around tougher people and learn they really are mostly just like everyone else.

I don't know what actions I should ask you to take but all I can say is things happen to make people learn. As long as the incident that has happened didn't make things to irredeemable or are too destructive to someone's well being , then we should just take actions to ensure they never happen again.
