  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a question. Sometimes at night before I go to sleep I get this fear that I can't get rid of. I start to feel bad spirits all around me and I start to get scared and sometimes it's hard for me to go to sleep. I feel them even more when I argue with my husband. In order for me to get rid of that feeling of fear, I go into prayer mode and after that I just go into a sound sleep. I don't understand why this is happening to me but I notice that it happens to me alot, even more so when my husband is out with his friends. What does that mean? How can I get rid of the feelings of fear for good? I don't like that feeling and I know that there's a verse that says that,

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

Assuming you are a believer,

Repeat after me:

In the name of Christ Jesus, I command every evil and unclean spirit to leave. I bind you and cast you out by the name of Jesus, and through the power of His Spirit. You are no longer welcome here.

Then pray a thanksgiving prayer to the Father for allowing us to do just that - to get rid of spiritual attacks with the use of His Son's name. The trick is, you have to say it out loud. Only God's Spirit can hear your thoughts. For the pestering spirits to obey a believer, the words have to be spoken out loud. It doesn't have to be shouted, but it has to be spoken.

Sounds like the spirit of fear has attached itself to your marital strife. There is no marriage without strife because you have two separate, different humans trying to live as one. But if you are a believer, Christ has given you the right to tread on scorpions. These are the scorpions that Jesus was speaking of - not real bugs, but small, annoying, and sometimes dangerous spirits. Stomp them down, by using the name of Christ as a weapon.

Of course, this only works if you are a believer. But it does work.

You can't fall asleep due to fears until you go into "prayer mode" and afterwards you go into a sound sleep?

Sounds like God is calling you to a life of prayer.

Many times we fear is because there is a break down in love. The bible says that perfect love casts out all fear. With fear, there is usually a breakdown somewhere in our relationship with God, others or ourselves.

Love is the number one commandment from God. From your post it sounds like there may be an issue with you and your husband. You mentioned when you two argue and when he is out with his friends. Does he fulfill his responsibilities as a Godly husband? Is he spending more time with his friends, is he going to places he shouldn't?

Do oyu need to forgive him for anything?

An alternative to commanding unclean spirits out loud is to silently,(or out loud), beseech The Lord God/our Heavenly Father for freedom from them/their harassment, in Jesus' Name.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
<-----> John 14:13+14

...Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
<-----> John 16:23+24

One may first need to "confess/repent of their sins" to God to "clear" the way for "fellowship".

...If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
<-----> 1st John 1:7-9

And we also may need to forgive/make right any "ought", we might have with/against any other.

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. <-----> Mark 11:25

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remembers that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
<-----> Matthew 5:23+24

And there may indeed come some practical instruction to keep/follow to secure the "gift", over the "long haul".

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
<-----> John 16:13+14

In this way, even the "buffeting" of Satan's messengers "works for our good", by distressing us to the point of seeking/calling upon The Lord more than before.

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
<-----> 2nd Corinthians 12:7-10

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. <-----> Romans 8:28

Additionally, one may find good results, ( in light of these truths) by giving thanks to God, even for this trial, believing that it is part of a valuable lesson which will increase one's faith through an experience of increased dependence upon The Father, The Son, and The Spirit.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
<-----> James 1:2-4
