Hello everybody,
I did a sin, which i promised God, that i wont do again. But i did it. Before i did that sin, i said to myself that if God exist he will punish me by not makinng me able to speak with other people. Now i can speak with other people. Does that mean that: God has forgiven me or that God doesnt exist? I believe that God exist, so the second variation doesnt seem godd for me.
What do you think about this what have just happened to me? Thank you so much!
John 5.22 God the father does not judge anyone but has left all judgement to His Son Jesus. Now if you truly accept Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour, you should be walking in faith with how He told us. That means that we take up our cross daily and crucify our flesh or sinful ways. Of course this is an impossible task without the Holy Spirit dwelling within you.
Although you might have the Holy Spirit within you due to accepting Gods grace aka the cross, you also have your sinful nature within you also. The apostle Paul states a full meaning of this in romans 7 and 8.
In 1st John chapter 1 we read that whilst it is Gods will that we don't sin, we have an advocate (Jesus) to cleanse us from sin if we confess our sins to Him.
We are called many times to examine ourselves and judge ourselves to see if we're in proper standing with God and if not, to repent back so that we are. The father does not judge and neither does Jesus at this present time. Yes a day will come when God will judge the world and sin, but now it's more of a rescue mission to save as many from impeding judgement.
So God will not punish you directly for committing a sin or failure to keep a promise to Him if you judge yourself and admit you messed up. It's good before God if we ourselves see how much of a screw up we all are. Please note that the bible warns against making promises to God because more often than not, people can't keep them. Making covenants with God is as serious as He making a covenant with you. Imagine if He couldn't keep His promise? Well He feels the same way about you. It's best to say nothing at all.
Secondly,
If you promised God that you will stop sinning, then whilst it would be great, you or anybody on earth cannot do such a thing. It is our very nature. If we could stop sinning on our own then trust me, God would not have sent His only Begotton Son to be our judgement. Gods wrath on His own Son was so horrific that prior to Jesus death, He prayed that the wrath of His father would pass from Him but obeyed the father and died for us anyway but What He saw grieved Him so much that He sweated blood. Nobody has ever experienced such a high volume of stress to sweat blood but Jesus Christ did. We can't imagine what He saw for it is too horrific for even man to create in his simple little mind.
Do you think for one minute that we can make ourselves righteous before God??. " None are righteous, not one of ye"
My own personal expieriance with habitual sin is that sometimes to stop it, it takes what the bible tells us. To pray and fast. So go pray and fast for 3 days with nothing but the odd glass of water and be genuine about hating that sin. Making promises we can't keep to God are nothing but puffs of air, or as one would say, Talk is cheap. Action is what produces purity. Hope this helps you bro, God Bless, Jonathan
