Hello folks. Guys and gals, fear not of the End Times (whether we are in the end or not), as God is with us, every step of the way.
Date | May 29, 2024 | Fear Not of The End Times |
Verse | Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV): "Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.’" Mark 13:32-33 (NIV): "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come." John 14:1-4 (NIV): "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV): "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." |
Explanation | The four passages come from different books in the Bible and address different aspects of faith and the nature of God. Let's examine each one: Exodus 14:13-14: In this passage, Moses is speaking to the Israelites as they are about to be confronted by the Egyptian army. Moses reassures them that God will deliver them, and they will not see their Egyptian oppressors again. This passage is not directly related to the end times or the uncertainty of the end time's arrival. Instead, it is a message of faith and trust in God's protection and deliverance, whether that was with Moses, 3500 years ago, with Christians living in 2024, or for Christians who will witness the end times. Mark 13:32-33: Jesus is speaking to his disciples about the signs of the end times. He emphasizes that no one knows when the end will occur, not even angels or the Son. The purpose of this passage is to remind believers to be prepared spiritually and to remain vigilant, as the exact time of the end is unknown. This verse does not indicate that the world is near collapse or that we should be overly concerned about specific events, however, it expects us to remain on guard. John 14:1-4: In this passage, Jesus is comforting his disciples by assuring them that he is preparing a place for them in his Father's house, is a message of hope and comfort, emphasizing the eternal nature of salvation and the promise of a place in God's presence. Philippians 4:6-7: In this passage, Paul is encouraging the believers in Philippi to avoid anxiety and instead present their requests to God through prayer and petition. The peace of God is promised to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and is a reminder to focus on faith and trust in God, even during challenging times, including the end times. |
Societal Relevance | Regarding the modern world and the concerns about civilization nearing collapse, it is essential for Christians to maintain a nuanced perspective. While it is crucial to be aware of the challenges facing the world, such as climate change, wars, AI, and different ideologies invading the churches, it is also important to remember that God is in control. Christians can respond by living out their faith through acts of love, compassion, and service to others. As for the ways the world is getting better, significant advancements in areas such as healthcare, renewable energy, technology, education, and communication have been made. For instance, car crash fatalities in the western world in 2022 are roughly ⅓ of collision deaths back in 1970, according to US and European sources. Over the past few years, next generation renewable energy technology (such as fully recyclable wind turbines, electrofuels, and long-life solar panels) have been developed, allowing humanity to reduce their dependence on polluting fossil fuels. These innovations can help improve the lives of people around the world and make the world a better place. However, it is essential to remember that there are still challenges and inequalities that need to be addressed, such as poverty, world hunger and environmental damage. Christians can play a role in making the world a better place by focusing on these areas and using their resources and talents to make a positive impact. |
