Honestly, the FDA may be on to something here 'home birth' isn't the most responsible choice. I'm not really sure why they can't pretty much ban it ?

Women have been birthing at home since Eve gave birth to the first baby. Home birth is fine and natural. It is only since doctors.came that people look at birth as something that needs to be controled and medicated.

Infant mortality rates have gone way down since modern medicine, just because it was done a certain way a long time ago dosen't make it the ideal choice. remember Marie Antoinette's daily baths where considered 'kinky' in her time even "sinful".

Many first world countries still have a large percentage of births occurring at home and have higher infant survival rates as well as much lower rates of c-sections. In the US we have issues with it because here home birthing mothers often have not had adequate pre-natal care. It's perfectly safe for pregnancies confirmed to be low risk and attended by a qualified midwife.

So I take it you are not "pro-choice" then.

If something is not the "ideal choice" should the government have the power to ban it? Who is in charge of making the decision on whether something is the "ideal choice"?

What facts are you basing your opinion off of? Low risk planned home births are just as safe as low risk hospital births. Infact, I would go so far as to say they are actually safer because it is well known that even with low risk hospital births you are more likely to receive intervention which can then cause a cascade of further interventions like c-sections.
