No, it appears to be good old fashioned American disinformation this time. The OANN author makes claims about the FBI’s actions that aren’t substantiated by the sources it provides. To wit: “The FBI and other law enforcement agencies told Yoel Roth and the Heads at other social media platforms that they should dismiss anything related to reports of a “Hunter Biden laptop.” They claimed that the story was part of a Russian “hack-and-leak” operation.”


That’s not what the cited testimony says. What the testimony says is: “During these weekly meetings, the federal law enforcement agencies communicated that they expected "hack-and-leak operations" by state actors might occur in the period shortly before the 2020 presidential election, likely in October. I was told in these meetings that the intelligence community expected that individuals associated with political campaigns would be subject to hacking attacks and that material obtained through those hacking attacks would likely be disseminated over social media platforms, including Twitter. These expectations ofhack-and-leak operations were discussed throughout 2020. I also learned in these meetings that there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden.”

That’s not the same thing. Either your OANN author is dishonest or his reading comprehension is bad.

I was thinking that for a while, but not I'm not sure I can. It is kind of like with the coverage of the US border and Fox News showing people flooding in, and you got people harping on it, but almost nothing constructive ever gets done. Certain parties got too much invested in the problem.

How much can the Republicans do when folks like Clyburn and Jerry Nadler do everything, they can to obstruct things, like they did when Obama was investigated for things like Fast and Furious and the IRS, Lois Lerner nonprofit tax status scandal? Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong, but the Republicans often just don't have the same gumption as the Democrats on this stuff.

Right now, for me the current political climate seems to be the last sign of the Apocalypse.

False. You can read Roth's letter in Exhibit A from the link. The FBI had warned generically about 'hack and leak' stories (11). Despite Michael Shellenberger's use of quotes, there was nothing about a laptop. Roth first learned of the laptop from the media (12). Twitter thought it could have been hacked material (13). And it did include phone numbers and other personal information that clearly violated Twitter policy (14). Twitter made its own determination to enforce its policies.
