  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

:wave:let's have a lighter thread.. :)

If you had to choose your top 3 or 4 favourite Saints, who would they be? :) EXCEPTING Mary.. because that's a given and she should be at #1  and - why?

Mine would be...

- St Therese: she is a great friend to have :) and I love her "little way".
- St Padre Pio: he's like a spiritual father
- St Gemma Galgani: inspiring, I love her prayers and focus on the Passion
- St Louis de Montfort: True Devotion to Mary!

there are so many more but I'm limiting the list ;)

Mary. :p

St. Anthony of Padua. (My Avatar) -I lose things and he helps me find them. He was my Confirmation saint.
St. Mammalian Kolbe- Amazing Story.
Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Also an amazing Story.
Bl. John Paul II -Do I need a reason?
St. Michael My baptismal Saint.
St. Jude- He helped me pass Math. :p
St. Mark the Evangelist- I read his Gospel first. And his symbol is a lion. I like cats.

St. Andrew - I was born on his feast day, and he was the first evangelist.
St. Monica - An example to all mothers who pray for their children
St. Patrick - I just love his story...I like to read about those who took the Gospel to foreign lands.
St. Columba - He yelled at the Loch Ness Monster...and again, he took the Gospel from his native Ireland to a foreign land.

And...though not a Saint yet...

Bl. Junipero Serra - another missionary...I am always inspired when I visit the missions in California. I have even been blessed to be able to attend a mass at the San Diego mission.

Saint George: I was baptized on his feast day
Saint Benedict: I was always inspired by the stories of his life and his rule. Also I've worn a medal of St. Benedict for as long as I can remember.
Saint Moses the Black: For some reason since I've learned about his life he has really resonated with me.

I guess my list is ecumenical since all my favorite Saints are pre-schism

Joseph - a good example for everyone because of his humility and love.
Francis of Assisi - if we all viewed God's creation as he did, the world would be a better place.

These two are my favourites and all the others fall really far behind. I'm not that much into saints except these two.

St Jonas the prophet (Because he was unique amongst the prophets in preaching to the Gentiles in Nineve.)

St Thomas More
St John Cardinal Fisher
The Holy Virgin Mary, The Holy Theotokos
Blessed Peter O'Higgins (martyr and Dominican priest; martyred by Protestants in Ireland, where even local Prot ministers begged and interceded for his life to be spared, to no avail. Look up his Last words, they are quite inspiring.)

and

Blessed John Forrest (Confessor of Catherine of Aragon; Franciscan Friar and Martyr; he was martyred by Henry VIII's regime during the Henrician schism).

And as of recent: St Joachim & St Anne, parents of the Holy Virgin Mary. I think that being as they raised her to her twelfth year in holiness and with great love, they are worthy of especial imitation and veneration. :)

"Knowing well that there were Catholics in the crowd, he said addressing them:

Blessed Peter O'Higgins said: said:
'My brethren, God hath so willed that I shonld fall into the hands of our relentless persecutors. They have not been able, however, to convict me of any crime against the laws of the realm; but my religion is an abomination in their sight, and I am here to-day to protest, in the sight of God and man, that I am condemned for my faith. For some time, I was in doubt as to the charge on which they would ground my condemnation; but, thanks to Heaven! it is no longer so, and I am about to suffer for my attachment to the Catholic faith. See you here the condition on which I might save my life. Apostacy is all they require but, before high Heaven I spurn their offers and, with my last breath, will glorify God for the honour He has done me in allowing me thus to suffer for His Name.'

Then, turning to the executioner, after having cast the Justices autograph to the crowd, he told him to perform his office, and the by-standers heard him returning thanks to God, even with his latest breath. Thus did iniqnity lie unto itself - thus did the martyr's constancy triumph."

I love them all.
I am indecisive on this.
I love Our Lady - very much, for without her, would we have our Savior?

And I have an affinity to St Pio, but i adore all of them.
And i hope i just scored brownie points from the Church Triumphant in Heaven. ;)

:holy: :D

Hmm...
I'd have to say the ones I feel most connected too are (in no particular order):
St. Peter
St. Patrick
St. Thomas Aquinas
Pope St. Leo the Great (<- He meets with Attila the Hun once and gets him to leave Rome and stop sacking the Italian countryside. Awesome stuff)

- St Padre Pio: he's like a spiritual father
My mother once wrote Padre Pio and got a reply from his secretary who said that Padre Pio would pray for her intention and requests her to trust in the goodness of God .
