  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm new here, and I could not find a forum that consists of just questions about the bible...please let me know if there is a place like that here!

In the meantime, here is my question.....

Who was Jesus's "favorite disciple?"

I've seen this mentioned in a couple of verses in the Bible....

<She ran to Simon Peter and to Jesus' favorite disciple and said, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb! We don't know where they have put him.">
John 10:2

<Peter turned and saw Jesus' favorite disciple following them. He was the same one who had sat next to Jesus at the meal and had asked, "Lord, who is going to betray you?">
John 21:20

Who was this favorite?

Earliest church tradition teaches Jthe fave was John the apostle, the writer of the gospel you quoted from. he is the disciple who leaned on Jesus's breast at the last supper. Some believe he was the youngest and was only 17 when christ called him to be a disciple.

BTW he is my favorite apostle. I am looking forward to meeting him and talking to him in heaven. I'm sure he'll have some great stories to tell about his experiences with Jesus! John says at the end of his gospel that he witnessed a lot of things that Jesus did that he didn't record.

Cool!

Peter as he learned his lesson
After denying Christ three times
And that he felt that he wouldn't
Do that to Him, He did eventually
So after Christ asked him three times does he love Jesus
Peter kept saying yes to all three of those times.
How he became an awesome disciple and preacher afterwards!
