  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Frank Peretti--very good writer with literary skills that I think most Christian authors lack. he's my favorite Christian author.

CS Lewis--love the imagination in the stories, thought provoking

James Herriott--secular author, really knows how to draw the reader into the story and makes you feel like you're there.

Jan Karon--author of The Mitford series. Simplistic yet very engaging. Good books to read if you don't have a lot of time to sit and read for hours at a time.

Hi, I really like this thread because I dig writing! (and books)

I like Charles Swindoll's writings because he is very uplifting and he has a nice way with words and he uses it to convey God's truth. He also writes on essential issues in life. A good book by him is 'Quest for Character'. That was the first book I read by him. His 'biographies' on Bible characters are also good. I've read Esther. Good, inspiring book for women (and men too!)

I also like Francine Rivers. When I read the Mark of the Lion series 6 years ago, I couldn't put it down! I think all girls will love Mark of the Lion trilogy..as well as guys.
Redeeming Love based on the book of Hosea is REALLY good too..I began to understand God's heart and love more when I read that book..and it is very touching.

The best three books I read last year are:
(they changed my life)
1)Boundaries (Cloud and Townsend)
2)Case for Faith (Lee Strobel)
3)Passion and Purity (Elisabeth Elliot)

I think Lee Strobel is good when he asks people questions as he was a journalist...but I tried reading another book by him...about some Christian issues..and didn't like it personally. Case for Faith is such a great book because he asks all the experts and then he puts them together. But I personally don't like his writing style. Speaking as a lover of books...and words! :)

I would die without books. I do not read much fiction nowdays and I tend to like individual books rather then all by the same author. Eg I like A Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol but no other Dickens.

I like Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Robert Browning, Martin Luther King, Jr., Edgar Allen Poe, Frank Peretti...I could go on but I will stop.

I like these authors because they are considered dork, but they have the best ideas in their stories and poems! Robert Browning is an awesome POET!
