Favorite Secular Metal?

I am not for sure how you lable, or if you can give a label to gothic music. But when I look at bands like Tristania, Kayzen, Lililthu, Lacuan Coil, etc. what else can you call it? Gothic usually relates to grotesque, mysterious, and desolate...so this is why the music gets bunched into this category. Hey I just read them how I see them. You guys should really check out this website www.metal-archives.com

I still think calling Lacuna Coil metal is a mockery of the term metal. They're more like really good alternative.

Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Theatre of Tragedy, and The Sins of Thy Beloved are high on my list, and since "Gothic Rock" has been mentioned, I'll have to add the Sisters of Mercy and Bella Morte.

Blind Guardian, hands down. Can't beat the Tolkien material. I'm also a fan of Yngwie Malmsteen, At Vance, Kamelot, Narnia, Dream Theater... mostly fantasy/power metal. Can't stand the stuff with beastly screaming. AC/DC is as wild as I'd listen to in that respect (of course, their lyrics are disgusting).

The first song is Black WInter Night, off of their first album. It is alright song, but it doesn't stress the main feel of this band. The second song from their new album is what their style sounds like! Good stuff!

Lately I've been on a Dragonforce and Suidakra kick, which is unexplainable bexause they sound nothing alike. Both bands do kick alot of ass though.
