  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Matthew 14:29-33

He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched ou his hand and caght him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

i always laugh at Peter but my Pastor says that no one else trusted JESUS to get out of the boat. Would have you? He says he knows for certain that he would not!!

It'd definately be a huge leap of faith, just because we're not use to walking on water for obvious reasons. I could lie and say that I would not have doubted and that I would have danced on the water for Jesus, but I know that I would probably not, I'm not a perfect person and I hope Jesus would forgive me for not trusting to much in him!

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am really being drawn to the above verse right now. Jesus loves me, a poor sinner, and yet my voice was the loudest at Calvary :cry:

Alleuia :clap:

Diane, I'm with you on that one. Three weeks ago, I quoted it to my Bible study group for the topic of overcoming Lust & Temptation.

Job 38 really speaks to me but verse 11 is what floors me, when God says to Job

11 when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt'?

I mean that sums it all up when thinking of God's power and who are we to judge him and his reasoning.

Great thread idea! :thumbsup:

2 Tim 2:11-13,"Here is a trustworty saying,

If we died with him, we will also live with him;

If we endure, we will also reign with him.

If we disown him, he will also disown us;

If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself."

I feel these verses remind me of what I need to know in order to endure the trials and tribulations of being a Christian. :preach:

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. -- NKJV

This impacted me so deeply when I read it. It is a scripture which is so relevant to my Christian and Non-Christian Friends - the people who are the family we choose.

To this day I have never forgotten this scripture, it sums up what Jesus did for us, and how we must minister to those around us.

God Bless, metal.

My favorite scripture is Matthew 25:40
[Bible]Matthew 25:40[/Bible]

Christ commanded us to love one another as He loves us, and if I remember to do that, then I am showing God how much I love Him, since how I treat others is how I treat my Lord.

Romans 15:13 is a good one........
"So I pray that God, who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in Him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

I say Psalms 30 is my testimony after running back to the Lord following the death of my husband of 30 years to a heart attack,but even though I love His word so much and it is so difficult to claim a "favorite",I would choose Prov. 3:5-6-7Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil

The reason why,is because I have learned the "hard way" that as sure as I try to run things,be in control,without taking it to God first and asking Him to lead me,I always make a mess of it! No way would I even consider making a major purchase or decision without taking it God first,now.

I also must say Mat.6:26 "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? " because this promises me that God will always meet my needs[ not neccessarily wants],and He has been faithful.
