  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just remembered my best friend I haven't seen in 8 years, and I decided to write about her.

Belen

Childhood memories never fade.
I may have been three years old
but I remember her face
oh the comforting times we spent
counting lice from our hair
and the million tears we shed
tears not strictly from pain
who say's poverty is the end?
For us children
life was a world of creativity
we would talk,
we'de play with rocks,
just you and I Belen.
Oh how I miss my dearest friend
the frightful park, the aquarium,
and the walk
the miles I walked
just to be with you
the times we would pray
for our dreams to take flight.
Just to let you know, dear friend
mine have gone a long way.

Wow theres a lot of great stuff here. My aunt passed away last year of cancer and I wrote this poem to read at her graveside service. She was only 40 and just recieved her 3 grandchild who was named after her. All 3 children were under 5. This is my favorite!

We are Never Far Apart

Forever is never guarenteed and we took our time with you for granted.
We thought we would have a lifetime but you have departed to a place enchanted.
Even though God's gentle hands have carried you so far away,
We know that you're near as the ripples of our lives do sway.
Your voice will echo through the fields where your grandchildren will one day play,
and they will know thier grandmothers soul will never fade away.
If we dreamed our most mystical dream it still would not compare,
to the magic you brought into our lives and the love your heart did share.
You have left your fingerprints on our lives and your footprints on our heart
We hold a piece of you within and we are never far apart.

I hope you enjoy as I did even though it is slightly sad.

I don't write as much poetry now as I did before, but I guess I could share some of my older stuff. This one is two or three years old, I think:

All I need

All I need
is a friendly smile
to let me know
I'm appreciated
just for being me.

All I need
is a little guidance
to point me right
when there is something
I just don't want to see.

All I need
is a shoulder to cry on
and a special someone
to be with me
just when I'm needing it most.

Thank you Lord for giving me
family and friends
that love me just for me.
But thank you most of all
for being all I need.

Yes.I too enjoy poetry. Here is one from one of my favorite poets (who happens to be my national poet):

You can build a whole world or destroy it..it doesn't matter what you say
On it all a shovle of mud falls
The hand who wished knowledge's sceptre
Who ruled the whole Universe fits perfectly in 4 planks.
That is just one of my favorites. It's just a passage. The whole poem is way too long to type.

Unfortunately nobody has bothered to translate his poems in english from all that I know. His name is Mihai Eminescu, some say he is a copycat of german philosophers, some say he has stolen his ideas from different legends but I don't believe it.He didn't finish his studies in Berlin because he didn't agree with his teachers(who happend to be philosophers). He DID insiper himself from legends but he didn't copy them.Look for Scrisoarea I (which means The first letter)with google and find a translator.I'm sure you'll love it.

I am a huge fan of John Bunyan the writer of The Pilgrim's Progress; hence my user name and the inspiration for alot of my writings. John Bunyan is also a great poet. I believe he had 73 works of poetry alone and he wrote a couple of books. All of his work is done cira 1600's so the language is beautiful. I hope this may inspire some of you to read some of his works.

I'm a big fan.
