  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For those who have either seen the Broadway Stage Production or are a huge fan of the movie, like me, name some of your FAVORITE songs or moments from "Phantom of the Opera!"

My favorite song moments from the movie are when the Phantom is singing "Point of No Return" during the Don Juan opera and also when Phantom, Christine, and Raoul are all singing at once at the very end. It's the part when Raoul is about to die and the Phantom wants Christine to pledge her love. Such a beautiful beautiful and tense moment in musical history!

Was anyone else like me and almost cry at the end. I had seen the stage show before but the movie made it all so vivid and it was very moving!

So you all better tell me your favorite moments/songs in the film or show1 :D

Music of the Night is my all-time favorite. But other favorites of mine are: Think of Me, Point of No Return, The Phantom of the Opera, and Notes. I love the music.

The stage play is absolutely fantastic.

I have to choose?!?! But it's so hard.

I love Notes I and II (the movie kind of combined them) because of Erik's attitude and sarcasm...

I love All I Ask of You Reprise because of Erik's emotion and his evil laughter when he drops the chandelier (the Broadway version, that is)...

I love Wandering Child with Michael Crawford because he almost puts me into a trance, and I love the "Bravo Monsieur, such spirited words!" part afterward...

I love Music of the Night with Michael Crawford because it's just gorgeous...

I love Phantom of the Opera with Emmy and Gerard because it's so passionate...

I love them all!

(I also love Misha Segal's Don Juan Triumphant, which is far superior to DJT and PONR in the musical/movie, in my most humble opinion).

this is exactly the part i love phantom the most.

1 even though i have watched phantom life many times and listened to the original CD recordings for over 600 times, each time when i heard this particular part, my feelings always came out.

2 when Christine made her choice kissing the Phantom and willing to sacrify her love and future for trying to save Raoul but the Phantom set both of them free, i was alway moved from the bottom of my heart:

a)at the same time i'm also very glad that i have a loving family and i didn't have to make a choice like Christine, Phantom or Raoul(it was a dangerous choice for Raoul to chase for Christine and Phantom: if he goes, he might have lost his life but could find nothing. if he hadn't gone, he might have lost Christine forever)
b)at the same time, i want to thank God: He loves me before I say I do. Jesus made all the difficult decisions...giving His life on the cross to save us. The decision on my part is so much easier than Christine, Phantom or Raoul.

3 Nowhere in other pieces of musical come close to this particular part of Phantom: excellent song, superior plot plus the best performance of Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford.

Haven't seen the film yet but have seen the stage version and know the music inside out. I love Phantom of the Opera (the song) for it's drama (and THAT top E!), and love Masquerade because it's fun! But mostly I just love to sing all of Christine's music, Phantom of the Opera, All I ask of you, Wishing you were somehow here, Think of me, it's so beautifully written to sing...
